Woodpeckers Remembrance Day

Date: 11th Nov 2020 @ 11:36am

Today in the Woodpecker class we have had a busy morning thinking about Remembrance Day. First, we watched a wonderful and very interesting assembly presented by the Starlings class. Then we watched Mrs Richmond play the 'Last Post' before decorating pebbles and laying them on the garden at the front of school. We enjoyed looking at all of the poppy pebbles from the other classes in school as we added our own. In reading, we explored the poem 'In Flanders Field' and also researched more about Remembrance Day and poppies. Both of these tasks helped us to understand more about this important day. Finally, observed a minute silence which all of the children completed in the most respectful manner. A very busy but important morning.

Miss Altham had an even busier and more challenging morning as she had to decide on the winners or the poppy competition which we held online and in school. Unfortunately we didn't have any official winners in the Woodpecker class but the children are all winners in our eyes. Thank you to all children and parents for all of your hard work at home with your entries.
