Although museums are closed, there are lots of ways to still access a range of learning resources and activities wherever you go!

The British Museum are working hard to create a range of resources: powerpoints, classroom resoucres and ideas for activities to use at home.

They will also be sharing a range of resources for families to use over this period through their family newsletter. All you need to do is sign up to the British Museum website to receive a regular round-up of news and features.

Starlings Lockdown Day 2

Date: 25th Mar 2020 @ 10:04am

Good morning guys!

I hope you're all staying safe and trying to make the most of everything that's going on at the moment! A massive thank you for the great work ethic shown by the majority of you over the last few days, we even have 1 child who is extremely close to answering 1000 questions on IXL, can anyone beat them to it?!

We had a few responses to yesterdays question, congratulations to HB for being the first to answer correctly! The answers was of course Spongebob Squarepants.

Todays question (No googling...) : Who were the last English team to knock out Athletico Madrid over 2 legs? - Sorry Liverpool fans wink

A final note, if you can, please try and join the trend of putting a rainbow in your window! I was sceptical about this craze but on my walk home from school yesterday I saw a few in windows and they genuinely did put a big smile on my face!

Stay safe, have fun, keep learning!!

Mr. Dean

What a fantastic day, again the weather is superb! Make sure to get yourself some fresh air today as always staying 2 meters apart! The home learning yesterday was fabulous, a real credit to those who undertook it.

Our motto for the next few weeks is 'stay safe', take care of each other, it is a very strange time... Make the most of it, we have been watching the birds fly around in the garden, see if you can spot some different varieties yourselves with family. The swallows should be out soon enough, returning form southern Africa, hopefully we will get a good glimpse of them as they swoop! Take care, and watch Newsround this morning for any updates, keep those spirits high!

Have you created one yet? If you haven't can you create one today and put it in your window! If you get chance to go for a walk today you could count how many you find and comment on this blog to tell me!

This is free for children under the age of 18 at the moment (usually £75) and is a wonderful opportunity for them to learn a fantastic life skill whilst they are home. A message from home

Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 9:39pm

Hi everyone,

Hope you've had a great day and haven't yet driven your parents crazy! I don't think I helped with that - posting a maths flipchart with 2 errors! I've checked through tomorrow's and it looks fine!

I joined in with Joe Wicks this morning at 9am. I had an extra challenge to contend with - Alexander was running around me in circles as I was lifting my knees up! We had a few close calls. I do much prefer his 'plank' method to mine though - just lying on the floor on your belly laughing!
I am tracking how you're getting on with your home learning - well done to those who completed all today's tasks! I also noticed that some of you logged into IXL as well.
I hope you're all well and adjusting to this change. I did think earlier that it would be a great opportunity to write a diary of your day to day activities and feelings. In many years from now people might find it very interesting to read how you handled this time in your lives.

Stay home, stay safe.

Take care,

Mr Simpson

Woodpeckers Home Learning 25th March

Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 9:23pm

Good Morning Woodpeckers!

I hope that you are all ok and having a good week so far. Have you been trying the Joe Wicks workout everyday at 9am? I have done it for the past 2 days now. It's a really good way to start your day. Try it on the link which you will find on the class page. Or just search 'Joe Wicks workout' on Google or Youtube.

Another thing which is keeping me busy is the Lego 30 day challenge. Search for it online and it gives you something new to build everyday for the month. So far I have built a rollarcoaster and my dream home!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! We have managed to reach the 10,000 question mark on IXL. That means that as a class, we have managed to answer this many questions. Remember, you can go onto this site, log in, and give any of the Year 4 Maths or English tasks a go.

Today's Learning is ...

LBQ Type in the code sry

There will be 3 tasks. 1 maths, 1 reading and 1 grammar. Please give each task a go. I can see lots of you are attempting the LBQ tasks already. Some of you are managing to complete most questions. If you find one of the questions tricky, read the information that it gives you to help.

Times Tables Rockstars - 15 minutes daily will work wonders

IXL- anything on the Year 4 section

Read Theory - complete 1 activity

Maths frame - times tables challenge - can you score 25?

Have a great day children!

Good morning Penguins! smiley

Happy half way through the week! Hope you are managing to enjoy some of this lovely sunshine! Look how amazing we are doing on IXL, we are nearly at the top of the mountain! Keep it up.

I have added below the home learning for today and don't forget the purple mash to do's and to save your work so I can see what you’re up to.

I thought today we could use our bodies to make some repeating patterns!  Once you have tried the video ones a few times, could you make you own up! I'd love to see them!

Today’s tasks will be as follows:

IXL:

Maths – Reception - Patterns - M.1, M.2, M.3, M.4.

If you think you're ready for a challenge try; Year 1- Patterns - I.7, I.8.

I wonder if you could find some objects around the house to make a repeating pattern, I'll have a look too!

English – I thought we would recap our position language today as we sometimes get a bit muddled. So please complete : H.7, H.8, H.9.

Phonics play - you could practise your tricky words today on the truck app.  Use Phase 2,3, or 4 depending on what tricky word book mark you're up to.  Comment below on how long it takes you to read them, I wonder who can be the quickest?

Please also complete activities on:

Purple Mash

Mini Mash

Don't forget to try and read every day, Oxford Owl have some great books broken down into levels that you can use.  Majority of Reception are on red, yellow or blue and work within phase 3 phonics.

Have a great day Penguins, don't forget to get up run around, play in the garden and make the most of being able to play with all your toys during the day!

Minibeasts

Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 9:16pm

These minibeasts are fab and well done to those children who tried to add some writing.  Ive only seen 3 though, I'd love to see some more.  They are on your to do section on your purple mash.

Daffodils

Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 9:11pm

I have just been looking through some of the wonderful learning that has been happening over on purple mash.  I love these dafodils paintings, they really made me smile.  They are just like the ones on my kitchen table.

Don't forget to to save your to do's so I can have a look at them and add a comment.
