Nursery Home Learning 17th June

Date: 16th Jun 2020 @ 9:36pm

Good Morning everybody!

I can't believe how fast this week is going!

You did really well with your challenges yesterday:

It's fantastic to see that you are all so engaged with this week's story!

Here are today's new challenges:

Challenge 1:

Superworm begins with the sound 's'
Can you see anything else around you that begins with the sound 's'?
Can you try and write the sound? We say 'slither down the snake' as we form our letter.
To challenge yourself even more: Draw some items that begin with the sound 's' and label them with the sounds that you can hear.

Challenge 2:

Have a great day!

Challenge: can you write what you have found as number sentences?

Today we are going to look at reading the long ‘oo’ sound.  Watch the video and follow the instructions.

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a fantastic weekend. I was very busy playing golf and planting some new flowers in my garden yesterday.

I also got some new storybooks which I'm excited to share with you this week! I can't wait to upload them onto the blog.

I am very impressed with the challenges some of you completed last week. It would be great if a few more Penguins gave them a go too and posted them onto the blog for me to see.

I wanted to choose a story that we all know and love this week! So our challenges are going to be all about 'Superworm' which is one of our favourites in Penguin class. Have a go today's challenges and let me know how you get on.

Challenge 1:

All superheroes need a cape! Can you design a new superhero cape for Superworm to wear on his adventures?

Date: 14th Jun 2020 @ 8:10pm

Good morning penguins!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, it was so nice to have the sun shining again and we have spent lots of time in the garden.

We are going to start doing something a little bit different with our home learning.  I want us to focus on our phonics to make sure those sounds are really secure in our heads. Each day I will add a new phonics video that will help us recap or learn one of our phase 3 sounds.  You will need a piece of paper and pencil or whiteboard and whiteboard pen so you can join in whilst watching the video.

Maths

We are continuing to look at part part whole this week but using drawings instead of objects.  Watch the video and have a go by joining in.  Once you’ve watched the video, how many ways can you find to make 12?

Challenge: can you write what you have found as number sentences?

Literacy

Today we are going to look at the ‘oa’ sound.  Watch the video and follow the instructions.

If your where in red group you are working in a different phonics phase so can you go to Mrs Lenagans phonics page and start at the beginning of her videos.  The fist one is ‘ay’.

It could be a silly dance, a special wave, or even a funny song.
I'd love to see what you all come up with!

Challenge 2:

What different shapes can you make?
Can you name them?

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Hi there penguins!

I hope you are all ok!

Some of our class came in for their first day back at school yesterday and we had a great day doing all the challenges that you did at home. You were all greatly missed by Mrs Mort and me!

You did a great job on your hugs. Take a look at some of them:

I'm glad to see that you are still using all the online resources like IXL and Oxford Owl to do some learning.

You are doing a great job with your learning keep it up everyone. Don't forget to blog so that we can see what you've been up to!

Here are your challenges for today:

Challenge 1:

What did the tortoise and the hedgehog do to cheer each other up?
Can you draw pictures of what they did and label them?

How can you cheer your friends and family up?

Challenge 2:

It is very important to take a break during your busy days and have time to relax. Have a go at the yoga session below with a grown-up and maybe have some quiet time with the music I have listed below.

Can you also practise counting back in 1’s from 20?

Don't forget to blog updates so I can see what you're all up to at home.

Good morning penguins!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Although we have some children joining us again this week in school we will still be posting daily homelearning on the blog. This week I will start to film some of our carpet inputs so you can do your lessons just like if you were sat on the carpet.  These won’t start for a few days whilst we settle the children back into new routines.

Maths

Today I want you to practise counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s and also counting back in 1’s.   I have added some videos to help you and also added a number square to help you too.

We are going to write about the character, setting, problem and solution this week. Today we will write about the character Jack.

What does he look like?

How does he behave?

Let’s see how many tricky words you can remember today?  If you know your phase 3 ones now try and practise your phase 4 trick words?

I have added new spellings for you on the discussion part of your blogs.

Daily reminders:

  • Oxford owl reading

Nursery Star of the Week

Well done to all the nominations today. Don't forget to watch Mrs. Forshaw's video to see if you've been nominated for a Head Teacher's award.

Our Star of the Week this week is Alexa! It was such a tricky decision as you have all worked so hard.

Alexa, you have shown so much dedication to your home learning, going above and beyond expectations. It has been wonderful to see all the different tasks that you get up to on the school blog. You have attempted every challenge set and I can see progress every single day so well done! Keep up the brilliant work.
