Penguins 19th May Home Learning

Date: 18th May 2020 @ 4:52pm

Good morning penguins!

I hope you are all ok today.  There was lots of great learning yesterday, I was really pleased to see all the shape hunting and what shapes you found, I love the hot tub cube in Florence’s garden!

Maths

We are continuing to look at shapes.  Remember we are working towards being able to name them all but also to use the correct language to describe them.

Today I have posted a video all about the cuboid.  Can you find all the things in your house that are a cuboid, you could list them or take pictures of them?  You could even see what cubes you can see on your daily exercise.

Choose one of the cubes you have found and can you describe the shape to your grown ups using the correct language, edges, vertices and faces.

Literacy

Watch the video of me reading our story this week.

Using the videos from past weeks remind yourself of how we write about the setting.  I haven’t done a new one as I want to see if you can write it on your own. Can you write at least 2 sentences to describe the setting of our story?

Challenge:  Can you use the story language to carry your story on e.g. one day.

Write your sentence after your sentence from yesterday so you can build up a story over the week.

Phase 3 rocket rescue today guys.  Remember you can do phase 2 or 4 if you need to.

Daily reminders:

  • Oxford owl reading
  • Purple Mash
  • Spelling

Don’t forget to upload your pictures on the blog so I can see what you have been doing.

Have a great day!

Good morning penguins!

There was some great learning again yesterday, I am so impressed with how much your writing has progressed. Wyatt produced an amazing piece of writing this week and he tried really hard with his letters.  Madeline, Erin and Archie are also working super hard on their writing, well done!

One penguin posted a really lovely idea I wanted to share with you: a hope and dreams jar. She thought about all the things she wants to do and places she wants to visit when lockdown is over, I think I am going to create one of these.  Maybe you could too?
