We had another special visitor this week, Snowball the elf! He has been messing up our classroom at night. On Tuesday we came in to see he had thrown Miss Thompson’s pens everywhere and was hanging upside down! Today we found him wrapped up in toilet roll and he had decorated our whole classroom with it! We wrote super sentences about what Snowball had been up to, to report back to Santa

Puffin’s class were planning their Christmas letter and discussing the different questions we could ask Father Christmas, when a special visitor arrived! We had written post it notes with our questions on and had the opportunity to ask him lots about Christmas! An exciting way to start December!

We explored teen numbers and partitioned them into tens and ones. Well done Puffins!

We worked hard to prepare Christmas decorations that will go on to our whole school Christmas tree next week. We were all so excited to talk about Christmas and the preparation period. We made the decorations by printing our handprint then decorating them to look like reindeers. They look amazing!

In Maths today we went on a shape hunt (using iPads to record our findings) made shape patterns by exploring the faces of 3D shapes and played a game involving using mathematical language to describe the shapes. It was a busy lesson!
Human and Physical fetures of London

Puffins researched and then created the human and physical features of London. They also created a poster! Well done. Next week we are comparing to Westhoughton.

The children did very well to explore using their senses on a carousel this afternoon. They used smelling pot, freely bags, bottles and instruments and then describes what they felt, heard, smelt or sounded like.

This week in topic, we have been learning about the 4 countries in the UK. Looking the at Atlases, making it from play dough and making their flags too! Can you remember them all?

Comparing numbers and addition sums using and =

Children compared 2 numbers and then addition sums. They then wrote the correct symbol to represent greater than/less than and equal to. As a Step 3 challenge children needed to sort these equations into true or false columns and prove it! Well done.

We have had a great time learning about the 7 continents and 5 oceans in Geography this week. We used Google Earth on iPads to locate continents and also the UK, we used an interactive globe and atlases to colour and label a world map! How many can you remember?

When we arrived at school after half term, we had a spooky skeleton visitor in our classroom! Our class have been reading the book funny bones. We read half of the book, predicted what might happen and acted it out. We also gave the skeletons a profile as they had no names in the book! All of the children have loved giving the skeletons names and a personality.

Penguins have worked hard to create new books for their friends in Nursery. They have spent the week planning it, making it and then read their creations to the Nursery children. What a lovely way to end the week!

Puffins had a great PE lesson this week. We applied the effective running style we have been learning about in a game situation. First we played ‘Domes and Dishes’. We worked in two groups to turn the cones into ‘domes’ or ‘dishes’, the team with the most won. We then played ‘Rob the nest’. We worked in 4 teams and had to collect as many things as we could from the nest in the middle. Some brilliant team work, well done!

This is afternoon we went into a time machine to another classroom from the past. We became Victorian children and we did some lessons using chalk and a pretend slate. One of our children even tried on a dunce hat too! We then made comparisons between the past and present classrooms.

We have been learning about ordinal numbers and applied this in various races. We did a boat race, running race and Paw Patrol vehicle race. We are applying this new learning in word problems tomorrow. How many ordinal numbers can you remember? 1st, 2nd…
