What a wonderful but busy World Book Day. Today we have enjoyed painting potatoes to look like our favourite book characters, had a couple of DEAR (Drop everything and read) moments, we got treated to Starlings coming in and reading to us and telling us about their books. We then took part in a World Book Day catwalk including the whole school and after all that some parents/ grandparents came in to read with their children and make some book marks! Thank you to all who attended the children really loved it, as shown in the pictures 🙂

Today we have looked at washing our hands properly using the steps given on Newsround. We have learned the correct way to wash our palms, in between our fingers and even our thumbs. All this is done to the ‘happy birthday’ song which lasts 20 seconds (the period of time we should be washing our hands for).

This afternoon, we have explored some more facts about the moon. We watched the first moon landing and discovered that despite it happening over 50 years ago, the footprints are still there! So we created the first steps on the moon in salt dough ready for baking and displaying.

This week is Kindness week and as part of this we have been doing a random act of kindness on each days. Yesterday we made a friendship web to demonstrate how if the we are not kind to our friends, the bonds of friendship could be weakened. The web turned out to be strong enough to hold an item as well.

We had a wonderful time on our trip to the Hindu temple. We learnt lots of facts about their religion and what takes place in a temple. It was so informative! We then looked around the temple and learnt all about the stories they had to tell. The behaviour of the children was excellent and they asked some brilliant questions too. Well done Robins!

Yesterday the children were given a space picture to recreate using both hot and cold colours. We also looked at how to thicken paint and create different textures using PVA glue and sand. I think we have some budding artist within the class.
