Starlings Lockdown Day 2

Date: 25th Mar 2020 @ 10:04am

Good morning guys!

I hope you're all staying safe and trying to make the most of everything that's going on at the moment! A massive thank you for the great work ethic shown by the majority of you over the last few days, we even have 1 child who is extremely close to answering 1000 questions on IXL, can anyone beat them to it?!

We had a few responses to yesterdays question, congratulations to HB for being the first to answer correctly! The answers was of course Spongebob Squarepants.

Todays question (No googling...) : Who were the last English team to knock out Athletico Madrid over 2 legs? - Sorry Liverpool fans wink

A final note, if you can, please try and join the trend of putting a rainbow in your window! I was sceptical about this craze but on my walk home from school yesterday I saw a few in windows and they genuinely did put a big smile on my face!

Stay safe, have fun, keep learning!!

Mr. Dean

How to access LBQ:

Search LBQ on google

In the top right corner (Log in)

Select the Connect button under the pupil

Enter the code and have fun!

Lockdown day 1

Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 9:42am

Good morning guys!

Your learning for the day is up on the blog, I'll add some help on how to access LBQ from home (It is only accessabile until 3.15).

As things stand we have enough biscuits to get us through these next few weeks so all is good! It was amazing to see so many of you log on to learn yesterday, especially with the hiccup with the code (Sorry!).

The weather is gorgeous at the moment so I hope you are all being able to enjoy it safely in your own homes. Please keep me entertained with any stories about what you get up to during this extended break.

I've enjoyed the chance to finally get organised and tidied, a miracle I know! You won't recognise the place when you come back (We can finally see the side children!)

I will be adding a trivia question to the end of my daily blog, the first correct reply will be added to the blog and you will have 10 house points when we return.

First Question: Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

Have a great day guys!

Over the up coming weeks, we hope that you are able to keep up the great work you have done improving your reading skills. Alongside the home reader, we reccommend books from the 100 book challenge for you all as they are what we as a school reccommened as high quality reading for your age. I have attatched 5 documents that show you which books they are incase you do not have access to the list we last sent home.

Please keep reading, no excuses for not reading 4 times when we are back!

Handwriting

Date: 19th Mar 2020 @ 11:03am

Over the last few weeks we have been trying to focus really hard on our presentation, especially with our handwriting. As a result of the impending closure I would appreciate if we could kep up the hard work and practice our handwriting wherever possible.

The following link shows the exact formations of the letters that we practice in lessons, thank you for your co-operation.

Back to school

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:27am

We would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents who came in and joined in with our book bingo! It was great to see everyone engaged and having a great discussion about different books we have read!

Reading Buddies

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:23am

As part of World Book Day we loved having the chance to read to the children of  Robins class! It was especially fun to read to the children who had the same costumes as us!

Mini beast hunt

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:22am

Before dancing around the classroom though, we investigated the school grounds to find a range of mini beasts for us to classify. It’s fair to say the weather sent most into hiding but that didn’t stop us from trying.

Rocking Romans

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:20am

This afternoon marked the start of our singing rehearsals ready for our upcoming production! Our song is coming together and the children have choreographed some great dance moves!

Food webs

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:19am

In science we have been learning about food webs, therefore we made a massive human food web within our class room to show how all the animals in a mountainous forrest are linked. By removing just one plant, 14 out of 16 plants and animals died, showing why humans needs to start being more responsible!

Raging Romans

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:18am

As part of our afternoon topic, Starlings invaded Chester to learn all about where the Romans settled. We explored lots of old artefacts before marching round the city in formation and signing up to the Roman army for the next 25 years!

Money makes sense

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:17am

Today we were lucky enough to have some visitors from NatWest come into class and teach us how to be sensible with our money and how to set up our own businesses. They were very impressed with some of the children’s money saving ideas!

Making Mosiacs

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:10am

In art this term we have been researching and designing our very own Roman mosaics. Although we didn’t quite finish they all look fantastic so far! The children really thought about their patterns and how to use some cut and broken tiles to make them look more authentic.

Smelly Science

Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:09am

This week we investigated how our digestive system actually works by getting our hands dirty! We slowly followed the journey our food takes, identifying all the main organs and their roles as we did so.
