HEALTH AND FITNESS WEEK - DAY 3

Date: 8th Jul 2020 @ 8:42am

Good morning everyone!

What an amazing day again yesterday -  I cannot believe how many photos and videos were submitted yesterday. I'm so impressed with the effort and resilience I have seen displayed at home - it looks like we have some excellent jumpers in school and some excellent dancers in school...although if you ask my Bubble they might not have appreciated my Bollywood dance moves so much yesterday.sad

Today's activities

1) Activity Bingo

Remember to try and tick off as many activities as you can!

2) Let's get dancing!

There are two Yoga sessions for you to try today - one aimed at KS1 and one aimed at KS2. Why don't you try and research about Yoga first before you try it. Where was it created? What is it used for? Why is it good for you?smiley.Yoga always surprises me with how tiring it actually is! It is great for your body and mind.

KS1 - Yoga https://imoves.com/home-learning/1329

KS2 - Yoga https://imoves.com/home-learning/1339

Home Olympics - Event 3 - Washing Basket Throw Challenge

Today's event will test your throwing and your agility!

For this task:

1) Find a washing basket, box, bucket - any target you can find around the house

2) Find three rolled up pairs of socks.

3) Stand 9 steps back from the target.

4) Set a timer to one minute - when you start, throw the three bean bags and sprint to collect them. Then run back to your throwing point.

5) Repeat until the timer runs out - count how many pairs of socks you get in the target.

6) Keep a record of your best scores for Friday.smiley Challenge other people in your house to see what they can get.

Doves - New Class Blog - 08.07.20

Date: 7th Jul 2020 @ 9:10pm

Good Morning Doves!

I was so impressed with your research and information on Doves yesterday! Don't forget to keep your work safe and bring it all back in September.

Todays Tasks:

Today's tasks focus on wellbeing, our Growth Mindset and goals for the future.

Task 1

Throughout lockdown, you have all shown how motivated and determined you are to continue with your work, showing a consistent Growth Mindset. Today, I would like you to create a poster all about Growth Mindset. Think about how you can have a  growth mindset and what you can say to motivate yourself. Also, think about the flipside of this and what would be negative things that could be said in the same situation. Here is an example:

Task 2:

  1. Think about your goals for next year – what would you like to achieve? Split a piece of paper into two columns and label them ‘goals’ and ‘actions’. Think about what your goals and what actions you will need to make to achieve them.

Here is an example:

Health and Fitness Week:

Today’s activity is Yoga. Click the link below and follow the moves!

https://imoves.com/home-learning/1339

Please take as many pictures/videos as possible and post your responses to the blog/Seesaw!

Day 3 - Sports Day – Home Olympics

Well done to everyone who attempted the long jump yesterday – If you didn’t have chance to try this yesterday then do not worry – you can catch up today.

Today’s event is the washing basket target challenge. Find as many rolled up socks as possible and see how many you can get into the basket in 1 minute. Remember to challenge people in your household, try as many times as you like and record your best score – can you beat my score?

Have a lovely day,

Miss Fairhurst

Doves - New Class Blog - 7.7.20

Date: 6th Jul 2020 @ 8:10pm

Good morning everyone,

I loved getting to know you all yesterday, I found out so many interesting facts about you all through your brilliant posters! It seems like Pizza is loved in our class (my next task is to find out what we like on our pizzas - NOT pineapple for me! I wonder if any of you like pineapple pizza).

Today's task:

We are in the Dove class. What can you find out about Doves? Search on the Internet or look in a book and find out what you can about this wonderful bird. Then present your findings. You could draw a picture of a Dove, write a paragraph or some sentences about them, brainstorm facts or make a fact file.

One interesting fact about Doves is that they belong to the same bird family as pigeons!

Remember to keep any work you complete, all of our work on Doves will go on the front door of our classroom :)

Here are some ideas:

Day 2 - Sports Day – Home Olympics

Well done to everyone who attempted the speed bounce yesterday – definitely a lot harder than it looks isn’t it? If you didn’t have the chance to try this yesterday then do not worry – you can catch up today.

Today’s event is the standing long jump. Remember to challenge people in your household, try as many times as you like and record your best score – can you beat my score?

Doves - New Class Blog - 06.07.20

Date: 5th Jul 2020 @ 8:02pm

Good morning Doves!

I am so excited to welcome you to your new blog and your new class!

Over the next two weeks, I will be setting you some taks to complete at home so I can learn lots more about you! Anything that you complete at home, please blog it - I would love to read and see them all. I would love for you to bring them in in September so that I can display them in class so make sure to keep them safe :)

Getting to know each other:

This week, I will be ringing home to say Hi! This will be a great chance for you to ask any questions which you may have. Next week, I wll also meet with you all over zoom. If you haven't had an email with a date and time, please mention this when I call.

Today's Task:

Today I would like you to create a poster all about you! You could put a picture in the middle and create sections about your family, your hobbies, your favourite things and anything else that you would like to share.

Here are some examples to help you out!

Take a picture and blog your poster when you have finished. Remember, we need to keep safe online so we don’t want any personal details on the blog.

Here is a little bit about me:

- My favourite animal is a turtle (interesting fact, on holiday last year in Mexico, I had the opportunity to swim with turtles!).

- My favourite colour is dark green!

- My birthday is on the 1st January (New Years Day!).

- I have two brothers, one older - Ryan (he lives in America) and one who is younger - Lewis.

- I have one dog, his name is Rocco.

- My favourite lesson to teach is Topic - I LOVE history!

Health and Fitness Week:

This week is also Health and Fitness Week. Everyday we will set a separate task on the blog for you to complete at home.

Make sure to have a look at the ideas that Mr Horsley has set on the Main School Blog Page and blog any activities that you have done.

Have a lovely day!

Miss Fairhurst

Doves - Home Learning - 3rd July

Date: 2nd Jul 2020 @ 9:53pm

Good morning Doves!

Today is an extremely sad day as it is our last day together as Doves Class. I have loved having the pleasure to teach you all (some of you for two years) and I have so many fond and treasured memories (hopefully you do too!). From the start of the year, all the way to the very strange end, you have shown amazing resilience, determination and positivity through it all - I couldn't be any prouder!

I have so many memories but my top 3 from this year (if i HAD to choose) would be:

- Our Music lesson - listening to you all sing 'Make you feel my love' - I still have the videos!

- The fun we had at the Titanic Museum - including the part where we walked around a building 2/3 and took a detour to find the building for our lunch.

- All of our conversations from our Happy Friday discussions (I will post you one last discussion today - make sure you join in!)

Hopefully, thinking about all of these made you smile :)

Look at this class picture I found of you all from September!

Year 5 Children:

You will find your transition activities on the Eagles or Kingfishers page, depending on your class for next year.

Although I won't be your teacher next week, I am looking forward to finally seeing you all in September and I will certainly be keeping a watchful eye over you!

Year 6 Children:

- Year 6 children moving up into High School, take this time over the next two weeks to focus on some of the transition activities that your respective high schools have set for you.

Doves - Star of the Week - 19.06.20

Date: 18th Jun 2020 @ 9:33pm

This weeks Star of the Week goes to Oscar!

Day in and day out, Oscar has consistently made the effort to complete his home learning, never having a day off! You put 100% into all your tasks and show real commitment. Throughout this duration, I have been amazed by your dedication to develop your learning, going above and beyond to complete more reading comprehensions. This proves that you are a dedicated learner! Keep it up!

Don't forget to head over to the whole school blog page to see who has been nominated in the golden book this week!

Miss Fairhurst :)
