Digital Citizenship Blog

For our Digital Citizenship unit we have been looking at ways to keep ourselves and others safe online. We watched some interesting role-play videos and discussed what 'Becky' did well and could have done better. We then looked at the physical/mental impact excessive screen time can have on our bodies and sent an informative email to someone explaining why we should limit our screen time and how to do this effectively.

UKS2 Assembly

Date: 15th Oct 2020 @ 1:00pm

British Values

This week, our UKS2 assembly focused on the British Values (democracy, individual liberty, tolerance and rule of law). We discussed what each of these meant and how we promote these values in school.

Here are our ideas:

We then used this to help us with our Big Question "How do the British Values help us to become better citizens?"

- Rule of law teaches us to obey the law and society. This helps us to become a better citizen because we understand what we can and cannot do.

- Individual Liberty, this helps us to become a better citizen as we know that our voices and our opinions are welcome and will be heard. It helps to strengthen us being a democratic society.

Creating classification keys - Science

Date: 7th Oct 2020 @ 4:05pm

We have been applying our knowledge on classification to try our hand at creating our own dichotomous (classification) keys.

We used sweets and chocolate to practise and then, once we had got the hang of the types of questioning needed, the children created their own using animals.

Kingfishers Home Learning - 17th July

Date: 17th Jul 2020 @ 9:12am

Good morning Kingfishers!

I can't quite believe it is the last day of term already. The past few months have been incredibly strange however I have loved getting to know you all through these last two weeks, through your amazing work and through the zoom calls.

I hope that you all have a lovely summer, full of fun activities, laughter and memories! I can't wait to hear all about it in September. Take the time to relax and recharge ready for an important year next year.

Remember to stay active over summer. Now you have the time, try doing a daily workout or yoga etc in the morning to kick start your day. It will make you feel amazing for the day ahead.

Todays Task:

Interest/Passion Project

Today, you are continuing with your interest/passion project. Remember to do this based on something you are passionate about or extremely interested. This could be a hobby, a person, a place, animal etc. I want you to do as much research about it as possible and present it to me in a way that can best teach me about your chosen subject.

Here is an example from someone who did a project on China.

I can't wait to see the end results!

Have a great day,

Mr Horsley
