Kingfishers Home Learning 16th June

Date: 16th Jun 2020 @ 8:19am

Good morning everyone,

After feedback from parents, teachers and children – we have decided to freshen up our home learning routine. LBQ will still be used but less so than previously. In its place, we will be using National Oak Academy to provide online teaching which will provide more support to your children whilst providing a wider range of subjects. Daily links will be provided for all lessons. Once on the site, most lessons start with a quick introductory quiz, followed by a teaching video, followed by an activity and a recap quiz. Kingfishers will be able to blog any work to Seesaw whilst Doves and Eagles will be able to post work to the blog.

Important information regarding reading -

There has been a slight change to your reading routine. Y6 will no longer have a Reading Solutions login, instead Year 6 will find their daily reading task on LBQ.

Year 5 will now have a reading solutions login. You will need to visit https://readingsolutionsuk.co.uk/ and login.

If it asks for a site code it is : rpthega

Your username and password will follow the same format – First name and Initial with the password ‘qwerty’.

For example ThomasD – qwerty

If you have a double barrelled surname i.e Tom Adams-Johnson

TomA - qwerty

You will need to complete an initial reading assessment the first time you log on. It is important you work hard for this task as it will determine the level of the texts you will be given in the future.

Tasks for today

  1. Y5 Reading Solutions x2 -
  2. TT rockstars (20mins)
  3. No LBQ for Y5 today!

History - https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/why-did-the-usa-and-the-ussr-enter-a-cold-war

For all Oak Academy tasks there will be an intro quiz, video lesson with questions, a task/worksheet, an exit quiz. You could maybe submit your main worksheet/task to SeeSaw if you are happy with your work. Here is an example of Esmee's History work:

Here is an example of Layton's worksheet which he screenshotted (a great idea!):

The lessons you do in Maths and English will help you for LBQ tasks and written tasks later in the week.

Have a nice day everyone, let me know on Seesaw how you found the new website.
