Kingfishers Home Learning 20th April

Date: 20th Apr 2020 @ 8:34am

Good morning everyone, I hope you have all had a nice weekend. I tried to ring all parents last week at some point to check on how everything was going, although I couldn't get through to everyone. The general message was that I am really impressed with how everyone is embracing the new systems. If you are struggling with anything or need log in details, please comment on the blog and I will get back to you ASAP.

Today's tasks will be as follows:

1) Read Theory x 2 minimum (aim for 30-45 mins worth)

2) LBQ code - gir

Maths is comparing and ordering fractions - watch this video before hand to refresh your knowledge. The key is that it is difficult to compare fractions (or add/subtract fractions) if they have different denominators (bottom number of the fraction). Therefore, you will need to make the denominators the same using multiplication. Then, you should be able to compare them easily by looking at the size of the numerators (top numbers). Remember ascending means smallest to largest and descending means largest to smallest.

Here's one of my examples

3) Writing task - I have set a week long writing project on SeeSaw, log on to SeeSaw for more information. This will be due to be submitted on Friday. (if you don't remember how to log on to SeeSaw - you should have a sheet in your bag which was sent home before the school closure. If not, please comment on this blog and I will try and find a way to send you your details).

Todays section of the writing task should be -

1) Compare existing texts - look at good examples, which features are used, can you magpie any vocabulary? I have attached an example onto SeeSaw however if you search 'formal letter examples ks2' on a search engine you will find hundreds - the more you analyse, the better.

4) Afternoon topic web work - Choose an activity to work on this week and upload to SeeSaw when completed. Here's some amazing cakes made and uploaded by Maisie.

Oh...and remember to exercise - you will feel better afterwards!smileyFirst thing in the morning is always a good idea as it will help you to focus better on your work afterwards.
