Kingfishers Home Learning 22nd April

Date: 22nd Apr 2020 @ 8:51am

Good morning everyone,

Did anyone see the meteor shower and the StarLink satellites in last night in the sky? I saw it mentioned on the news so went outside to take a look but ended up gazing into the sky for about an hour. Apparently, tonight is going to be the best night to see them at around 9-10pm (well past my bed time) in the north-east of the sky. I would definitely reccomend it. Let me know tomorrow if you could see anything.

Today's tasks will be as follows:

1) Read Theory x 2 minimum (aim for 30-45 mins worth)

2) LBQ code - ugt

We did much better on the fractions work yesterday, I could see that you were trying to make those denominators the same which is excellent - well done everyone.

Today we are going to move onto converting fractions into decimals and vice versa. Again, this is something we covered in class before the closure however the video below be very important in refreshing your memory. You could even try some of the questions on the link below before moving onto the main task on LBQ.

3) Writing task (Drafting) - This will be due to be submitted on Friday. Todays section of the writing task should be:

- Drafting your letter - now is the time to use your plan to write your first draft, remember to break your writing down sentence by sentence. SAY your sentence aloud before writing to ensure it makes sense - does it sound right? Underline anything that you are not sure about and you can always go back to it during the editing process.

Make sure you include the important "skeleton" of your writing using paragraphs to include the important information, the fine details and improvement of vocabulary can be done during the editing stage if necessary

4) Afternoon topic web work - Choose an activity to work on this week and upload to SeeSaw when completed.

Try to keep up with the daily exercise, I was really happy to hear about the wonderful bike rides, runs and fitness sessions going on at home during my phone calls. I've been working on my 10km running recently but I've definitely lost a couple of minutes on my pace since my younger yearscrying I'm working on it......

Let me know what you've been up to, it's always great to hear about what else you've been up to apart from schoolwork. The verification code was posted on the blog (I think Miss Fairhurst posted it a couple of days ago) so you should be able to comment on the blogs again.

Enjoy your day everyone.
