KS1 Writing Task - Hopes for the future Jar/Letter

Date: 10th May 2020 @ 2:43pm

Writing Task – w/c 10.5.20

This week’s writing task is a creative one! We would like you to make a memory jar.  Decorate a jar and write on paper all your hopes and wishes. These can then be pulled out and completed once lockdown is over. Think about something you and your family can look forward to doing.  You can do this at home and then post pictures. If you are struggling to be creative you can write a letter to yourself using Purple Mash detailing your hopes and wishes for the future.

If you choose the jar then you will need:

A jar

Cut up bits of paper

A pen/felt tips/ pencil crayons

That’s it, it’s really simple, Mrs Penman and Mrs Handley have made one with their children so I have included their example below, don’t they look fantastic!

I have attached a success criteria below to hopefully help you out, I can’t wait to see what you create.

Success Criteria – Letter to future self/Message of hope

I have come up with at least 5 things I would like to do

I have been creative (included pictures/colours etc)

I have used conjunctions (e.g My hope is to go the zoo because I would like to see all the animals)

I have used capital letters and full stops

I have said who my memory will include

I have created it with only a little help

I have included adjectives

Please also note, that these written tasks are aa reflection of what the children can do, please do not worry about words being spelt correctly. The expectation is that children are using and applying their phonics knowledge and knowledge of tricky words to help them sound out and spell the words.

We can't wait to read the messages and letters of hope!
