Owls Home Learning - 11.05.20

Date: 10th May 2020 @ 9:33pm

Good morning my little bananas!

I hope you had a lovely bank holiday weekend!

Today is my birthday! I would normally be spending it with you all in class and then seeing friends and family in the evening. Today will be a little different than normal. I will miss my birthday hugs from you all but knowing that you're safe and well is good enough. I will spend the day video calling friends and family and will have a virtual birthday party instead! (Can any of you remember how old I am today based on my autobiography from earlier in the year?)

Last week it was another member of Owl Class' birthday! He created a photo collage on his blog so we could see all of his borthday activities:

A lot of you took part in VE Day activities last Friday. It was great to see so many of you commemorate the special anniversary. A lot of you had picnics, made your own bunting and took part in 1940s games:

Today's home learning is:

IXL - Maths - Addition Strategies - E1, E2, E3

IXL - English - Nouns - M9, M10, M11

Don't forget there are 2Dos set on Purple Mash and reading comprehensions on Read Theory.

Writing Task – w/c 11.5.20

This week’s task is a memory jar task. We would like you to create either a jar which contains messages of hope or write a letter to your future self about what you would like to do when lockdown is over. Something that you can look forward to. You can do this at home and then post pictures or you can write the letter to yourself using Purple Mash. Your family can also get involved as well and write something they are looking forward to.

These writing tasks are a reflection of what the children can do, please do not worry if spelling mistakes are made. We would hope the children usetheir phonics knowledge to help them sound out and spell the words.

For the message of hope jar, you will need:

A jar

Cut up bits of paper

A pen/felt tips/ pencil crayons

That’s it, it’s really simple! Mrs Penman and Mrs Handley have made one with their children so I have included their example below, don’t they look fantastic?

I have attached a success criteria below to hopefully help you out, I can’t wait to see what you create.

Success Criteria – Letter to future self/Message of hope

I have come up with at least 5 things I would like to do

I have been creative (included pictures/colours etc)

I have used capital letters and full stops

I have said who my memory will include

I have created it with only a little help

I have included adjectives

 Have a wonderful Monday everyone!
