We would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents who came in and joined in with our book bingo! It was great to see everyone engaged and having a great discussion about different books we have read!

As part of World Book Day we loved having the chance to read to the children of Robins class! It was especially fun to read to the children who had the same costumes as us!

Before dancing around the classroom though, we investigated the school grounds to find a range of mini beasts for us to classify. It’s fair to say the weather sent most into hiding but that didn’t stop us from trying.

This afternoon marked the start of our singing rehearsals ready for our upcoming production! Our song is coming together and the children have choreographed some great dance moves!

In science we have been learning about food webs, therefore we made a massive human food web within our class room to show how all the animals in a mountainous forrest are linked. By removing just one plant, 14 out of 16 plants and animals died, showing why humans needs to start being more responsible!

In maths we have started a new topic all about money, so today we investigated coins and thought of different ways we can make certain amounts.

As part of our afternoon topic, Starlings invaded Chester to learn all about where the Romans settled. We explored lots of old artefacts before marching round the city in formation and signing up to the Roman army for the next 25 years!

Today we were lucky enough to have some visitors from NatWest come into class and teach us how to be sensible with our money and how to set up our own businesses. They were very impressed with some of the children’s money saving ideas!

In art this term we have been researching and designing our very own Roman mosaics. Although we didn’t quite finish they all look fantastic so far! The children really thought about their patterns and how to use some cut and broken tiles to make them look more authentic.

This week we investigated how our digestive system actually works by getting our hands dirty! We slowly followed the journey our food takes, identifying all the main organs and their roles as we did so.
Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:08am
In Science we have been learning all about the digestive system and we have discovered that teeth play a vital role in this, therefore we need to really look after them. Today we planned and carried out an experiment to see which liquids cause the most damage to our teeth, using eggs as a representation. Hopefully next week we will see some definitive results!

We have been very busy outside of the classroom in Starlings. It has been fantastic to listen to some of the stories behind these awards, very proud of you all!
Why don’t we know much about the Indus Civilisation?
Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 9:07am
In R.E we are starting our new topic all about the Indus Civilisation, however even to this day a lot of the information we have about them is incomplete. To evidence how evidence can become tainted over time to become unreliable we played Chinese Whispers. It is fair to say we realised how easy it is for evidence to become unreliable especially via word of mouth.

It is very important to do a warm up and cool down according to Mr.Maddens, and after a term of working our brains to their absolute limits we had a festive cool down in class led by Mr. Poppy

This morning we wanted to show off our amazing writing so we took a short trip to Robins on our tour of KS1. The stories on offer were fantastic and I am really proud of the work the children have produced!

We all produced some fantastic Christmas cards on the computer using a range of techniques!
Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 8:58am
This afternoon we carried out an experiment to find out which material we should use to soundproof our classroom so that we do not disturb anyone else’s learning whilst we practice our homemade instruments!
Date: 11th Mar 2020 @ 8:57am
Over the last few months we have been learning all about WW2. Recently we have been learning all about the Blitz and why children needed to be evacuated. Before the evacuations happened though, Children often had to hide in Anderson Shelters.
As a result, whenever we hear the siren in class we must take cover in the nearest shelter we have and keep as quiet as possible. The air raid warden ensure we are following the black-out procedures before sheltering themselves!
