Penguin Nursery new starters final challenge

Hello Penguins,
We have started to get our classrooms ready for you and we would love to have something that would make you feel at home when you start. With this in mind, today's challenge is to take a photograph of you and your family so that we can put it on a display in school. These will NOT go on our blog. It will be something to find in class on your first day and something to bring comfort incase you are feeling worried like the Colour Monster did in our stories. Good luck with your last challenge.

Hello Nursery,
I hope that you have had a good weekend. Today's story is all about the character we met last week...the Colour Monster! In this book he goes on an adventure to school. He feels lots of emotions along the way.
I hope that you enjoy the story and this is a good opportunity to talk through how you might feel about starting at our school.

Good morning Nursery Penguins,
I have loved seeing all your rainbows this week, they are so lovely and have really brightened my week!
Today your challenge is to make your very own Colour Monster. You could make it out of your handprint, a sock, paint blowing, playdough or junk modelling. Talk about the colour of your monster and how your monster might feel.

Well done to this little super star, she loved the book The Colour Monster and her favourite colour when asked was pink for love! Just look at the amazing rainbow she has made from her scavenger hunt. I hope to see some more soon from our other friends. Check the blog on Friday for another little challenge.

Happy Wednesday Nursery Penguins!
I hope that you have enjoyed the story of The Colour Monster and that it gave you and your adult a chance to talk about how you are feeling. Your challenge today is to listen to the story again and then go on a colour hunt around your house. Once you have found lots of objects in different colours, can you sort them and make a rainbow? (See example) Can you name all the colours of the rainbow? Which colour represents your favourite feeling? Mine was yellow for happiness.
Don’t forget to send your pictures to office@thegates.bolton.sch.uk and write in the subject box 'Nursery New Starter'. We can’t wait to see them.

Hello Penguins,
I have been so impressed with the challenges that you have been sending in. There are some wonderful examples below; we have one friend who loves penguins and one who has a pet cat and a dog. Super drawings!
Mrs Parnell has a story time with a book called Grandma's Beach. We hope you enjoy it.

Hello Penguins!
I hope that you enjoyed the story from last week, and a big thank you for the lovely responses to the challenge.
Today's story is about feelings. I know that starting at Nursery, which is somewhere new, will make you feel lots of different things; from feeling excited to feeling scared. This book allows us to explore our feelings and gives us a chance to talk about any of our worries. When you have listened to the story, can you tell your grown up which colour is your favourite? Mine is yellow because it represents happiness. Don't forget to check the blog for the challenge and send any replies to office@thegates.boltons.sch.uk

Hello Nursery,
I hope you enjoyed the story time all about my favourite character Spot that I posted this week. In this story Spot makes lots of new friends on his first day at Nursery and this has made me think about the new friends that you will make. Therefore, this week the challenge is to make a picture of yourself to show your friends. We would like you to use any natural materials such as leaves, flowers and sticks to do this.
