Swallows - Digital Citizenship

Date: 22nd Oct 2020 @ 11:08pm

This week's Computing lesson centred around the topic of 'good communication', something that supports our learning this term of staying safe online. The children discussed how they communicate online and Mr Pryle was surprised to learn that the children use over 15 different ways to communicate online with their friends and family! We discussed how to stay safe when exchanging messages, what not to share online and what a good email looks like. Here are some of the children's examples and the work we created...

Swallows - Topic Homework

Date: 21st Oct 2020 @ 9:33pm

This morning we managed to show off some of our topic homework as part of our KS2 assembly. It was extremely enjoyable to see so much effort and passion with our home learning! There have been some outstanding pieces and something that both Mr Pryle and Mrs Boneham are so pleased with. Keep it up all of you, superb learning!

Swallows - Our Week

Date: 16th Oct 2020 @ 5:00pm

It has been a real pleasure to teach the Swallows class this week. We have been working hard not only on our physical and mental fitness but on our team-working and perseverance throughout some tricky tasks. The children have performed superbly well when given some tough learning and are becoming masters of online technology!

Keep up the great work all, I am really proud of you!

Swallows - Big Question

Date: 16th Oct 2020 @ 4:55pm

Big Question - Why are British Values important?

The children have been discussing British Values and mental health this week. We used Tuesday morning to research the meaning of British Values and then  looked at how we could define this on Thursday. Whilst undergoing this learning, we used Wednesday's assembly to investigate mental health and how we can find inner peace. We created templates for both topics, butterflies to show hope and peace that relate to mental health.

Super learning Swallows with some tricky topics!

Swallows - Star of the Week

Date: 13th Oct 2020 @ 8:17pm

Star of the Week -

Well done to our Star for this week and for the other children nominated for Headteacher's Golden Book. You have been a superstar since we started in Swallows, each week supporting others and putting in 100% effort. Keep it up, well done!

Swallows - LKS2 Assembly

Date: 8th Oct 2020 @ 4:31pm

LKS2 Assembly - What is bullying?

Due to the upcoming National Bullying Awareness week, Swallows undertook an assembly to discuss what we know, and share our thoughts on bullying. The children took a really mature stance to this topic and there were some outstanding responses to what bullying is and how some of us have been affected by it. Here are some of our responses:

'I think bullying is really nasty behaviour to someone or something for a long time'

'I think it is when someone does something naughty to make someone feel bad'

'It is being mean to someone for a long period of time'

Well done Swallows, this was a real pleasure to teach and be a part of, keep it up!

Swallows - Virtual Mile

Date: 7th Oct 2020 @ 9:08pm

Swallows have been at it again...

The children have been working hard this week in PE to improve their stamina. Today with Tom, our FUNDA rep in school, the children were learning about how to be that little bit more resilient through games and skills based learning, mainly through team games. The children have also been testing themselves to beat last weeks times they set as part of our Bolton Schools 'Virtual Mile'. Keep it up Swallows, your resilience is shining through!

Lower Key Stage 2 - School Councillors

Date: 6th Oct 2020 @ 12:49pm

School Council Elections -

Lower Key Stage 2 have held their elections this week! The children produced some fantastic written speeches which were read and spoken so very well. The teachers were extremely proud of the way the children committed themselves and there were some extremely talented and very honest individuals. Some of these could have easily made it to parliament! Well done to all who put themselves forward.

Swallows - What a week!

Date: 2nd Oct 2020 @ 4:18pm

Well, where do I start!!??

Swallows produced some outstanding learning this week, working hard to solve tricky problems and 'hunt' for hidden creepy-crawleys that lurk in the bushes of our school! We had fun collecting evidence from text's together, while discussing 'World Rivers Day' as part of our reading comprehension. The children rounded off this week's learning with an exercise of 'mark-making' using Henri Rousseau-inspired colours. Well done again with superb learning Swallows, keep it up!

Swallows - Home Achievements

Swallows - Big Question

Date: 1st Oct 2020 @ 3:48pm

This morning, we discussed our Big Question for the week, 'How is peace achieved around the world?'

Swallows made a great start with this on Thursday, answering this using their own experiences of peace. We discussed what peace is and the difference between this personally and on an international level in terms of conflict and war.

Throughout our debate, the children were mindful of others feelings and respected just how we all feel peace can be something to work towards, particularly in today's society.

Here are some of our responses:

- Peace is achieved by talking a discussing problems.

- I achieve peace by being calm and reading books.

- I think peace needs to be achieved by solving problems together and talking

Swallows - Virtual Mile

Swallows New Class Blog - 17th July

Date: 16th Jul 2020 @ 10:42pm

We’re all going on a …. Swallows holiday!!!

Happy Friday children!

Today is our last day before the holidays. It has been a real privilege to get to know some of you in a very different way! Some of the work you have produced is unbelievable and I am immensely proud already! I knew your previous teachers of Miss Whalley, Miss Woodward and Mrs Handley were right when they said you were very dedicated to your learning! Thanks for all the superb effort, keep up the support of each other and we are raring to go for September!

Today’s task:

Today is the final challenge and we’re going to ask you to be creative again and use your imagination. Please draw a black dot about the size of a £2 coin on a piece of blank paper. Now we want you to turn this dot into some art. I have attached some images to give you an idea but we would love to see what you can come up with. What will your dot become? Don’t forget to blog your creations!

Have a great day and have the most amazing summer. We can’t wait to see you in September, keep shining brightly!

Nice to see you, to see you nice Swallows!!!

Happy Thursday!

Your work yesterday was amazing Swallows, you have all worked so hard. It made me quite emotional at this time of year and it has been lovely to speak to some of your wonderful parents so far children. I will be contacting more of your families again today to see if there are any question before September. Keep going, today is the penultimate day (word of the day alert!) – make sure it is a cracker whether you are out walking, chatting or playing, make sure to have fun!

Today’s task:

Today we would like you to make an imagination portrait. In the bottom right hand corner, draw or stick a picture of yourself. Then, draw a cloud and inside it sketch all the things that you can imagine. The pictures can be anything! What do you like to think about? Do you have any special places or people in your mind that you could draw? Take a look at this image for a few more ideas...

Don’t forget to blog them so that we can see your wonderful work. We would love to display these in September too so keep them somewhere safe for when we return. Enjoy your day...

 Caio for now all!

SPORTS WEEK RESULTS........

Date: 14th Jul 2020 @ 9:48am

I have counted up the overall scores for this years Home Olympics. The results were very close, so many of you took part and there were some amazing scores from pupils and parents across the school. The overall winners have been decided on the class which had the highest participation from its pupils.

This years winners are....

Well done to Mr Simpson and his new Eagles class!

Fifa Forum Tournament (9) — FIFA Forums

Some indiviudal winners include -

Well done to everyone who took part - you all posted excellent scores and it is important to take into consideration to range of ages across school. Use it as motivation to train and try even harder for next time. If you are somebody who feels disappointed when you do not win, remember that it is OK to feel this way. What is important is how you react to this. You should always show dignity in defeat, congratulate the winner or winners and use your disappointment to motivate you next time. Every single professional athlete will have experienced defeat at some point in their life, especially in their younger years, and if you ask many of them they will tell you how much losing can help motivate them to succeed in the future.
