Look at this ‘belting’ example, just another addition to the fantastic work you are producing at home. Makes me quite emotional when I think about it long enough. You have made the whole school proud recently, coming out and really pushing the boundaries with your learning. Your reward will come! Stay safe today on what looks like another smashing day (after a few light patches of rain) but try to get some fresh air. Also, take up the ‘non-stop’ challenge and checkout Mrs Lenagan’s post yesterday to the whole school regarding Mental Health Awareness Week, there’s a little choice of tasks on there to complete, very apt at the moment…

Here are today’s learning tasks:

LBQ – Code: niv (all lowercase)

There are 3 tasks, please complete all 3 tasks. If you get stuck, read the feedback – remember it is ok to get it wrong, as long as you give the feedback a go Swallows. How else do we learn?

Spelling/ Writing / Afternoon Task

Take a look at these tasks on your ‘discussion’ feeds. There are spelling, writing, and an afternoon task that will be on by the end of the day today. Take your time and have a go with as much as possible to help support your learning. Most of this week’s can be done independently, show me what you are made of Swallows!

Swallows Star of the Week!

Star of the Week – Swallows

GOOD MORNING WESTHOUGHTON TOWN!

Well done Olivia! This is for some excellent effort recently, not just with her home learning and LBQ tasks, but with practical skills at home just like so many of you are undertaking. I am prouder of the fact that we are going to have children in Swallows that know how to cook dinner and make a belting brew than I can! I must say it has been a pleasure to read some of the writing you have undertaken Olivia, it shows how far you have come. Again, a rather large party awaits you when we return!

To reiterate last week, there have been some splendid efforts on LBQ this week and with the discussion tasks, you are all putting that 100% in to impress. Please keep this up, it means the world to me and Mrs Roberts. Everyday I am amazed to see how manyof you get onto the LBQ tasks before I have even fully opened my eyes! As always, be patient and kind with adults at home and remember to be grateful for the time they spend with you, we wont get this opportunity very often.

Enjoy the (sunny) weekend all!

Throwback Thursday –

A new one this as of last week. Each Thursday, Miss Fairhurst will post on the SCHOOL BLOG (main blog page) a photograph of someone in school. Could be a teacher or pupil, with a ‘throwback’ theme. Well done Viyan! This is for outstanding learning recently and it has been a long time coming. Like Jenson last week, just a shame that we weren’t in school to see your happy and proud face!I promise we will have a special celebration when we are back in. Lots of tea drank! You have been dedicated to your learning and it has been astonishing how much you have been contributing to our class total on IXL! Keep up that level of effort and your pilots wings will not be long away young man!

I know it will mean the world to all of you to receive this certificate at home. There have honestly been some unique feats on LBQ this week with some really tricky tasks with fractions. I can see how hard you are all working, but remember your time WILL come! Be thankful to your adults at home for the support they are giving you,  you will benefit greatly from this time spent with them, even though it is different.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend all!

Good Morning Swallows!!!

Well, what do we have here?

A ‘gaggle’ of children and parents in my midst! It is Swallows back for some more! Hello all, hope the weekend treated you well and the sunshine did your spirits some good, definitely did with me! I have recently been trying to dig up some of the lawn here to lay a small patio – pictures to follow, so we went for a walk instead. This is what chaos looks like –

Anyway, hope today is a good one, I will be back later with some excellent learning example and shouts, give it your best as always. I am missing the happy smiling lot you are, take care today…

Here are today’s tasks Swallows:

LBQ – Code: rhg (all lowercase)

There are 3 tasks, please complete all 3 tasks. If you get stuck, have a look at the video below:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/skillswise/length-and-distance/zrkrpg8

Or, use the key that 1meter (1m) is the same as 100 centimetres (100cm). Some of the questions with conversion will ask for this to be carried out first, as below.

1.

The question asks ‘which is longest?’. Well we should convert all to the SAME unit first. So convert all to centimeters first –

200cm

800cm – the longest

100cm

500cm

VE Celebrations – WB 4.5.20

Dear Parents,

Next week marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day and despite not being in school, we would still like to be able to celebrate this with the children.

It would be brilliant if at home you could have a tea party or a picnic on Friday as a special celebration on this day. Some streets are planning a ‘Stay at home street party’.

At home, it would be great if your child could make a VE Day t shirt (decorate a plain t shirt using felt tips of fabric paint) which they can wear to their own VE Day tea party/picnic.

Here are some ideas for your child to complete at home if they would like to. If you do complete any of these activities, we would love you to share them with us on the blog.
