Good Morning Swallows!!!
Good Morning Swallows!
Welcome to another fine and glorious day on the Swallows train! I hope you had a lovely Monday, 20 of you online yesterday completing some excellent learning! Keep up that resilience. I was out walking for a few miles yesterday and even had a dip in the River Douglas with 2 extremely noisy children! I hope the day brough sunshine and happiness all...
Here are today’s learning tasks:
LBQ – Code hpg (all lowercase)
There are 3 tasks, please complete all 3 tasks. If you get stuck, read the feedback – remember it is ok to get it wrong as long as you give the feedback a go Swallows. How else do we learn?
Reading
Every day I set you a reading task on LBQ. Over the week try to complete at least ONE comprehension on Read Theory.
Afternoon Task
This week’s task is to choose one of the volcanoes you researched last week, or a completely new one. I would like you to find 5 facts about it and research the country in which it is located. This could include information about the culture, people and language spoken, food and music. I recommend Vesuvius on the western coast of Italy; it would have really linked well with our Roman Topic!
Other Tasks
Have a look at your ‘discussion’ feed on your ‘school spider’ log-ins. Here you will find the spellings, writing tasks and your afternoon task for this week. I have really enjoyed seeing all your smiling faces and the learning you have undertaken so please remember to blog as much as you can.
REMEMBER: Pupil verification code is 956789
One last thing to think about…
Ciao all, take care today!

Swallows 27th April 2020 - Home Learning
Date: 27th Apr 2020 @ 8:15am
Good Morning Swallows!!!
I can’t quite believe the effort from all of you once again! Above are some great examples of your home learning, just goes to show how hard you are all working! I hope you are all getting along really well, and the weekend treated you well. I have just finished my latest book, a story about Genghis Khan, have a look for him on google with your adults -what a leader! Quite a brutal chap though but managed to conquer much of the world.
Try to catch some of the nice weather while it is still here Swallows, maybe try some gardening or have a wonder into the local area for daily exercise. All this is great for local Geography!
Here are today’s tasks Swallows:
LBQ – Code: phv (all lowercase)
There are 3 tasks, please complete all 3 tasks. If you get stuck, have a look at the video below:
Or, regroup from each column like in class. Move from the ‘neighbours’ houses, next door, when subtracting:
1. 2. 3.
Weekly Spellings
This week’s spellings are again on your ‘discussion’ tabs on your school spider log-ins. I have also uploaded on your Purple Mask 2do list, a quiz to help you to learn them. On Friday, I would like you to ask a parent to test you and then let me know your score as part of the discussion, just like last week.
(See discussion thread on your pupil blogs)
Weekly Writing Task
This week’s writing task will also be uploaded to your ‘discussion blogs’ year 3. I must point out that there was some fantastic effort Year 3 with this task but some children (and parents!) found it tricky to upload these to Purple Mash. Therefore, going forward, there will be a ‘discussion’ on your school spider log-ins. Please upload this as you did with spellings to save any confusion with different programmes.
This week’s task is as follows:
LO: To write a setting description of a beach.
This week, I would you to write about a beach. Seeing as we have had such good weather recently, and we are not able to head to the sand, this is a perfect opportunity to use your imagination to get yourselves there! This could be a beach you have visited on holiday, or a beach that you would like to go to. This could be the most glorious place in the world, or the most frightening experience as a storm approach… Have a look at the picture above!
Try to include the following as a success criteria:
Success Criteria: |
|
Did you include? |
Teacher assessment: |
|
|
handwriting. |
|
words as adjectives, e.g. the huge, green leaves of the palm trees. |

Other ideas:
IXL – Visit this site every week to practise some of the learning in the Year 3 Maths and English sections (passwords are your child’s full name in lowercase letters followed by 460 (mrpryle460). Password is qwerty).
Read Theory – Complete a reading comprehension every day if you can as part of your reading challenge
Times Tables Rock Stars – visit this at least 3 times a week to practise your times tables.
Purple mash is great for research...
Final Thought:
Many thanks to parents for your continued support as always. It was lovely to speak to so many happy and enthusiastic people last week on my phone call’s round. It makes the job very much worthwhile!
Ciao all, take care today!

Oxford Owl, the company that we use for our home reader books have made a number of books available online whilst schools are closed. These would be a brilliant way to support your child with their reading as they could virtually change their reading book like they would in school and enjoy a whole range of exciting, new books.
Please follow the link below.
www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
You can search for the books using the 'age' or the 'level' tab.
Happy reading!

With the amount of time we are spending online at the moment, it is important to remember how we can stay safe online. I have attached a poster below of the 10 top tips for Online Safety. Make sure you have a read.

Swallows 21st April 2020 - Home Learning
Date: 20th Apr 2020 @ 11:05pm
Good morning all!
I hope Monday went ok for you all, time sems to have stopped in a lot of ways. I visited our class yesterday as part of a tidy-up operation I thought I would run, but there were no children in there! No PODS being tapped and certainly no laughter echoing down the hall! I have missed you all, there's no doubt about it and I there are lots of things we must never take for granted again after this is over with! Get ready for another brilliant day, remember to keep smiling and having fun in the sun (if there is any!). Some great home learning taking place, here's Harrison catching the sun looking like Jordan Pickford, great kits Harrison!
Take time to think of others today Swallows, that is all I would ask of you today.
Here comes the shouts...
30 house points (and a shiny star) -
Jenson Barr, Alfie, Aiden, Hayden, Hannah, Paige, Hibah, Harrison, Olivia, Viyan, Maisie, Lewis, Ava, Isabella, Dario, Phoebe, Tiana, give yourselves an big WHOOP!
Weekly Writing Task
Remember, on your Purple Mash 2do list is a Volcano writing task. I would like you to complete this by Friday and save it on Purple Mash or if you prefer, you can complete it on paper and upload it onto our blog.
Our Weekly Recommendation
Every week we will share with you one of our favourite recommendations to support you at home.
This week is about daily fitness alongside our spellings. We have set you 10 spellings this week to practise. As you practise, why don’t you give this fitness key a try. For every letter from the word, there is an action to do.
Here is today’s learning:
LBQ Code: ygz (all lowercase)
There are 3 tasks, please complete all 3 tasks. If you get stuck, read the information given. Also, going on to IXL to practise similar questions may also help.
We know that the questions can get very tricky towards the end. Give them all a go. If you really struggle, especially with the maths, you can stop at question 20. With the English tasks, I would like you to finish.
Afternoon task
Just a couple of things to clarify about the afternoon task for this week. I would like you to research volcanoes, this should help with your WRITING task for the week by giving you a basic overview of volcanoes themselves and where they are located in the world (a lovely bit of Geography thrown in!). There doesn't have to be much writing involved, just a sentence or two for 3 or 4 questions. Try and answer the following (use these in your research):
What is a volcano?
How is a volcano formed?
What are the names of some famous volcanoes?
Where are these volcanoes located?
This should then help with the English writing task on Purple Mash also.
Other ideas:
IXL – Visit this site every week to practise some of the learning in the Year 3 Maths and English sections (passwords are your child’s full name in lowercase letters followed by 460 (mrpryle460). Password is qwerty).

Times Tables Rock Stars – visit this at least 3 times a week to practise your times tables.

Enjoy today, stay safe with your families and remember that every cloud has a silver lining!
Ciao bella,

Good Morning Swallows!!
Hope fully the weekend treated you as well as it did me. I have spent the weekend gardening (the grass has never been as green!) and out in the sunshine catching some ‘rays’ man! 😎
I hope the weekend has treated you as well, Those of you like Ava Mills will know by now how we are missing our beloved Everton - or just the sports teams / people that you love and are usually getting ‘stuck -in’ each weekend. This weekend I played my brother-in-law at FIFA and you will be pleased to know we beat Man Utd 3-1!! Nothing like a few bragging rights! Take care all of you, of your family and your beloved pets. Get ready for the learning today…
Weekly Spellings
Every week I will post 10 spellings for you to learn. I have also uploaded on your Purple Mask 2do list, a quiz to help you to learn them. On Friday, I would like you to ask a parent to test you and then let me know your score as part of the discussion thread.

Day 28 everyone, a strange day yesterday, lots of sunshine!
Now, this is what madness looks like. My wife rigged up a great contraption yesterday Swallows. A Coca-Cola bottle that became a fountain. Have a go Swallows if we get some nice weather again, holes in the bottom and the hosepipe in the top, a good bit of fun! Can you tell how we are spending our time at the moment?!!
Needless to say, the children loved it for about 10 minutes, then it became too cold! I hope you all had a little time in the sunshine before the cold wind came. Take care and get lots of sun-cream on!
I had a great chat with some of your parents yesterday Swallows, you are very lucky to have such great, supporting parents. I will be in contact with as many as I can today and next week, just to have a quick catch-up! Keep up that effort for them also, it is a strange time for us all. Keep focused on your learning again today as the day goes, the IXL passwords are in full swing now so make sure to have a go at these tasks also.
Here comes the shout’s…
Harrison Gaskell, online as soon as the LBQ passwords were set up yesterday (8:30am approximately) 30 house-points to you young man!!
Hayden, top stuff again – I think you boys must be getting up out of bed at about 6am!
Jenson Barr, Dario Osipinski, Maisie Moss, Ava Mills, Alfie Priestley, Hibah Faruqui, Olivia Bealey, Isabella Lockwood, Viyan Patel and Lewis Vernon – 10 of the finest house points!!!
Keep smiling as this new day arrives, think of your loved ones, get some tunes on Swallows to relax to children. I was listening to Oasis whilst working yesterday, just to drown out the noise of two very bored children throwing water at each other! Maybe find out what your parents like and maybe have a listen…

Ha, great to be back in business. I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. Where possible, make sure you get outdoors to catch some much-needed vitamin D all, it really made me feel amazing yesterday. Did some planking but was no near the standard of some of you, the last time I heard, Mrs Roberts said 4 minutes for some of you!! Ava Mills springs to mind here!
I will be checking on some of your learning again today as the day goes, we have at least 13 of you now back in the game!! But on a serious note, here comes the shout’s…
Braxton, Isabella, Hayden and Jenson Barr for some excellent LBQ application yesterday. ‘Top bag’ that Jenson, like Youri Djorkaeff used to for Bolton!
Lewis and Harrison for persevering and pushing through with IXL yet again, keep up that effort. Hannah, Ava and Aiden – keep reaching for that ultimate prize of world domination, some belting results!
Hibah, Paige and Olivia- the list of great synonyms I could write here would take many hours so will keep this to…

Good morning Swallows!
I hope you had a wonderful Easter break and are now ready for some more online learning/ exercise / fun! Very quiet on the Pryle front Swallows, not much other than running around and tidying up after two whirlwinds! We’ve managed to clean cars, paint some fences and bake some cakes, we’ve never eaten as much!
We’ve managed to get out into the garden a lot, Eliza has enjoyed wreaking havoc (see the picture below!) I’ve managed to just about keep up with exercise, you’ll see a new man when we return, Clarke Kent in the making (I think not!)
All that said, keep up the hard work, we are missing your smiling faces every day. Make sure to blog when you log-in to the school’s website (school spider), some have really made me smile. Let us know what you are up to Swallows! It has been great to see so many of you blogging, make the most of time with family and support each other. This is a great example from Aiden below!
Hopefully this will end soon, when and we’ll be back in school with our friends laughing and playing. In the meantime, stay safe, keep smiling / PLANKING and make those ‘brews’ for your adults at home. (Be safe with the hot water! 🤪🤪)

Afternoon all,
We just wanted to wish you all a very happy Easter holidays with family, now more than ever it is important to think of others Swallows. Stay safe, enjoy the freedom and relax with a good book! I am currently reading about a man called Genghis Khan - some research for all of you! A 'great' warrior, something to focus on! School is a very different place, all I can hear is the sound of the paper ruslting in the slight breeze. I miss the sound of laughter and some witty remarks, naming no-one there Hayden!
Have a wonderful break, remember you can still access IXL but there won't be a specific task for the next two weeks on LBQ or IXL, why not try a different years learning to challenge yourselves? A quick pic to boost morale, here's Harrison pushing himself to learn:
Happy Easter all, have a nice break,
Mr Pryle, Mrs Roberts
Date: 27th Mar 2020 @ 9:42am
An excellent effort Swallows once again!
What a Friday feeling, I hope all is well where you are, I am feeling ready and raring to go for the weekend. You have truly inspired me to keep going. Big shout to Hayden for his great effort this morning, first person all week onto LBQ (sometimes as soon as I had put the code up!) Keep this up! Some great results with times tables practice, some of you answering first time, every time on LBQ!
Try and get out into the garden or outdoors space as much as possible this weekend, use that time for thinking about others and as many star jumps as possible! Have any of you attempted the plank challenge today?
For a bit of inspiration Swallows, check out the video below of people clapping for our NHS - very moving!!!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52058013
This will be every Thursday from now on, try to get out and give a big hand when you can.
We have officially passed 25 people each day on LBQ - some excellent progress! IXL is improving and we are nearing the 10,000 questions answered mark, lets keep it up!
Take care of each other, keep making others in your household laugh and remember to wash those hands!
See you Monday all,
Mr Pryle 🌈🌈🌈!!!

Try it out, keep yourself going and your mind strong throughout this strange time. It certainly has helped me to focus my day and keep a routine. Good morning Swallows!
I have just spent this morning discussing the learning at home from yesterday over breakfast, so impressive! I have also just spent this morning with Eliza listening to David Walliams' new audio book series called 'elevenses', a short story each day from his books to keep us all chuckling along. Have a listen when you can, 'Grubby Gertrude' today, had me thinking about my own children here parents!
https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/
Stay focussed on helping out at home today, the sun is really making things easier for us all at the moment, but try to keep the routine. Keep handwashing and thinking of my favourite Everton player Richarlison, that has made me smile recently! We miss your happy, smiling faces and the laughter you all bring. I'm sure it won't be long before we are together again, counting from the metre stick!
Take care, my thoughts are with you all, Mr P

Good afternoon all, hope you are feeling well and enjoying the day Many, many thanks to you all again for your wonderful effort with our home learning today. It is a credit to you all for perservering with it, nearly a full class and 25 users today! I have also been trying out some of my children's home learning this afternoon, don't think you are alone Swallows! Both my children say hello, they are really impressed with your efforts .
Keep your heads up and get some fresh air when you can. I was going to suggest a 'Plank Challenge' for Friday afternoon?? let me know what you think with a comment, remember we have 240 seconds to beat! I have also tried something a little different this afternoon, Cosmic Kids Yoga - as recommended by Mrs Roberts! Have a look at the link below:

Here's a picture of us trying it out at home, see what you think all, there are some great 'Star Wars' themed activities to help wind down the day. Speak to you again tomorrow...
Take care Year 3, Caio bella!

Swallows 25th March 2020 - Home Learning
Date: 25th Mar 2020 @ 8:59am
Morning Swallows!
What a fantastic day, again the weather is superb! Make sure to get yourself some fresh air today as always staying 2 meters apart! The home learning yesterday was fabulous, a real credit to those who undertook it.
Our motto for the next few weeks is 'stay safe', take care of each other, it is a very strange time... Make the most of it, we have been watching the birds fly around in the garden, see if you can spot some different varieties yourselves with family. The swallows should be out soon enough, returning form southern Africa, hopefully we will get a good glimpse of them as they swoop! Take care, and watch Newsround this morning for any updates, keep those spirits high!
My thoughts are with you all, see you soon, Mr P

Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 8:21am
Morning Swallows!
I hope you are all ready for another fantatsic day and the weather is superb! Make sure to spend some time in the garden if you can, remember 2 meters! As I always say, keep going with your head down, there are some fantastic opportunities here and I've already had some wonerful pictures of you all getting 'stuck in' to some home learning! I hope all is well with each of you, I miss the sound of small chuckles as you laugh at my bad humour, but it won't be long before that is back in your lives!
Take care of each other, stay safe and follow the guidelines set out by your adults at home. Make sure there are plenty of cups of tea made for them, you know how I like a good brew! Make sure to watch Newsround if possible, the link is below.
