SEND
Welcome to our Primary School SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) page
At The Gates, we recognise and celebrate the individuality of every person, understanding that it is our differences that bring richness and diversity to our school community. We are committed to fostering an environment where all students feel valued and supported, empowering them to become confident, high achievers who excel in all areas. Guided by the principle, "If children can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn," we ensure that our approach to teaching is adaptive and personalised to meet the unique needs of each child.
This page offers valuable information on how we support children with additional needs, ensuring that every student thrives in a nurturing, inclusive environment. We work closely with families and specialists to develop individualised learning plans tailored to each child’s strengths and needs. Our dedicated staff delivers targeted interventions, resources, and strategies to support student progress and well-being. Here, you will find updates on SEND policies, support services, and useful resources.
At The Gates, we deeply value inclusion, fostering an environment where tolerance, empathy, and understanding are key. This approach helps children develop compassion and encourages them to see the world from diverse perspectives. We believe that every child deserves to be nurtured and supported in order to become the best version of themselves.

As a parent carer forum, we ensure that the voices of Bolton’s parent carers are heard by SEND professionals locally, and also nationally. Services have a duty to consider parent carers, children’s and young people’s views, when developing, reviewing and changing any services that are used by families with a child or young person (0-25) with SEND. We do this in a number of ways, whether it’s through sitting on formal groups, or developing relationships with professionals, we are always ensuring the voice of local families is represented. We're here to help the 700,000 autistic people in the UK and their families. Be it running specialist schools, campaigning for improved rights or training companies on being more autism-friendly, we are dedicated to transforming lives and changing attitudes.
