Maths - multiplying numbers mentally

The trick for multiplying numbers mentally is to use your times tables knowledge to make related facts. For example if 3 x 4 = 12, then 3 x 40 =120.

You could then answer 3 x 39 by completing 3 x 40 then subtracting a 4.
