Writing Task – w/c 1.6.20

This week’s task is a letter writing task, did you know that the Queen has two birthdays? Her real birthday is on 21st April, this year she was 94 years old! She also has an official celebration which takes place on the second Saturday of June each year, this year it falls on the 13th June. Fun Fact for you, this tradition of two birthdays was started 250 years ago by King George II, his real birthday was in November, however he wanted to celebrate with the public and November was not the best time of year to do it, as the UK is not known for its good weather.

We would like you to either write a letter or card to the Queen wishing her a Happy Birthday. It would be excellent if you could take pictures of this for the blog and then send it to the Queen at

Her Majesty The Queen
Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA

Make sure you include your home address as you never know you might receive a reply! However it might be better to add your address after you have taken a picture of you with your letter, or cover your address with your hand (remember our internet safety talks) that way it will not be posted on the blog.

I have attached a success criteria below to hopefully help you out, I can’t wait to see the letters that you write.
