Penguins 18th May Home Learning

Date: 18th May 2020 @ 7:52am

Good morning penguins!

I hope you have all had a really lovely weekend with your families.  We went on some lovely long walks which was lovely, although we did get a little lost and al had very tired legs at the end!

Maths

This week we are going to look at shapes.  We are going to look at 3D shapes, we are working towards being able to name them all but also to use the correct language to describe them.

Today I have posted a video all about the cube.  Can you find all the things in your house that are a cube, you could list them or take pictures of them?  You could even see what cubes you can see on your daily exercise.

Choose one of the cubes you have found and can you describe the shape to your grown ups using the correct language, edges, vertices and faces.

Literacy

Our new story this week is going to be Little Red Riding Hood.  Can you watch the video of me reading you the story this week?

Using the videos from past weeks remind yourself of how we write about the character.  I haven’t done a new one as I want to see if you can write it on your own. Can you write at least 2 sentences to describe Little Red Riding Hood?

Challenge:  Can you use the story opener Once upon a time to start your character sentences off?  I have attached a blank copy of the writing frame if you want to use that to help with your writing.

Let’s see how many tricky words you can remember today?  If you know your phase 3 ones now try and practise your phase 4 trick words?

I have added new spellings for you on the discussion part of your blogs.

Daily reminders:

  • Oxford owl reading
  • Purple Mash

Don’t forget to upload your pictures on the blog so I can see what you have been doing.

Have a great day!
