Woodpeckers - Star Day 13.5.20

Date: 13th May 2020 @ 4:33pm

Hi Woodpeckers,

I hope that you have all had a good day today and that you have managed to get some fresh air. I’ve been for a lovely walk.

LBQ Shout Outs

Some great work going on today on LBQ and I am seeing lots of you completing the tasks and working really hard. If you completed all 3 tasks today, please give yourself 10 house points. I am writing down all these house points so that I don’t forget!

Special shout outs to Morgan, Clayton, Oliver B-S, Amber, Lyndon, Archie, Aoife, Brandon and Luca ...great work and lots of effort and resilience to get them completed.

More shout outs to Kate, Lucy, Ellie, Jasmine, Oliver B, Rebecca, Henry, Millie, Emelia, Heidi, Kaitlyn and Abigail for constant, daily effort and hard work.

I’ve noticed on LBQ that quite a few children who were signing on and completing LBQ tasks a couple of weeks ago, are no longer completing them everyday or are logging on and only completing 2 or 3 questions. The LBQ tasks are the main activities to keep our learning going so please can we all make sure that we are completing them everyday.

Here are some shares …

Look at this fantastic idea from Oliver. We are all missing things right now. Write them on a piece of paper and place them in a jar. Once we have more freedom to do the things we enjoy again, pick them out one at a time and enjoy what is on the paper.

Here is Jasmine’s time capsule container which she has decorated ready to use.

Here is another time capsule ready to go:

Abigail, this is a fantastic newspaper. I love the handwriting too!

And another super newspaper Henry. I love the use of colour.

And well done to Kate. Another fantastic article.

Well done Woodpeckers. I am super proud. Keep up the good work.

Mrs Latham.

Maths today is moving away from measures and shapes and refreshing our understanding of number. Today you will look at multiples of 4 and 8. Look for patterns and count out the multiples if you need to so that you are not guessing the answers. Top tip: you might want to write out the multiples of 4 and 8 first before you start so that you can keep looking back at them. Here are some songs to help:

Woodpeckers - Our Day

Date: 4th May 2020 @ 11:59am

Hi Woodpeckers,

Super busy start to our week today with lots of fantastic learning happening already.

Lots to shout out about for LBQ. Full marks for Kate on all 3 tasks today - this is incredible Kate, well done.

A huge well done to all of you who kept going, even though the first question on both of the English tasks was tricky, you didn't give up. I'm also really pleased because practically all of you kept going to the end of each task. Wow! 10 house points if you finished all 3 tasks.

Lucy and Oliver have kept me busy on the blog today which I love. Some amazing work on volcanoes and Oliver has been on his scooter (going too fast for me but he is far braver!). I have also seen some brilliant work from Lyndon too. Superstars!

This week is all about VE Day. This Friday marks 75 years since Victory in Europe day and all over the country this week, people will be celebrating. I have made a t shirt for my little girl to wear. I am also going to make some flags and bunting and have a liuttle tea party on Friday. I hope you can spend some time with your families doing something similiar. i made this t shirt for my little girl to wear on the day. I just used normal felt tips.

I struggled to upload the topic web of ideas on to the discussion blog so here are all the ideas that I have for you to try at home (if you would like). You might have a go at something different, that is ok too.

VE Celebrations KS2

Date: 1st May 2020 @ 11:00am

VE Celebrations – WB 4.5.20

Dear Parents,

Next week marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day and despite not being in school, we would still like to be able to celebrate this with the children.

It would be brilliant if at home you could have a tea party or a picnic on Friday as a special celebration on this day. Some streets are planning a ‘Stay at home street party’.

At home, it would be great if your child could make a VE Day t shirt (decorate a plain t shirt using felt tips of fabric paint) which they can wear to their own VE Day tea party/picnic.

Here are some ideas for your child to complete at home if they would like to. If you do complete any of these activities, we would love you to share them with us on the blog.
