Kingfishers Home Learning - 3rd July 2020

Date: 3rd Jul 2020 @ 9:03am

Good morning Kingfishers!

Today will be the last time that we will blog as our current class. I would like to say thankyou to each and every one of you for making me feel so welcome in your class when I returned in January. Your behaviour and attitude has been excellent since Day 1 and, although I have had the opportunity to see some of you again in school recently, it was such a shame that our school year together was ended so abruptly just when I felt we were hitting our stride. For a lot of you, it was my first time teaching you this year and its been a pleasure to get to know you all personally. I feel that you have all matured and achieved so much this year and you have set good foundations to continue to strive in next year. I know that Mr Griffiths shares the same sentiment towards you as a class and he, as someone who has been in class from the start of the school year, often tells me how immensely proud he is of your progress this year. I'd also like to say a huge thankyou to all the parents for the hard work that you have put in, not only over the past few months during lockdown, but over the course of the school year. Our home reading and homework participation all year has been consistently amazing and this speaks volumes about the support that you given. The children and I have really have benefitted massively from your support.

Children - the good news is that we will all get to see each other again next year as a Year 6 team at some point or another and I look forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible.

So, moving forward...

The Final Starlings Home Learning Post

Date: 3rd Jul 2020 @ 8:57am

Good morning Starlings!

Today’s morning post is slightly different to normal. Not only is it the last post you will have to look at for Starlings this school year (as from Monday you will be looking at your new class’ page), but it is also, sadly, the last blog post that I will be writing to you.

This is by no means how I wanted to be able to say goodbye to you all, and when school closed 14 weeks ago, the thought of seeing you all back in school before the term ended has kept my spirits high. Unfortunately, as we now know, this will not be possible due to the infection rate still being high, however, the most important thing is that you are all still safe and that is all that matters.

I have been looking back over the work you have produced since September, and the amount of work and the quality of it has increased massively and I couldn’t be prouder of each and every single one of you.

We have has our fair share of tears and have done well to nearly fill an accident book this year (Well done Matylda and Eva!), but those are all overshadowed by the incredible amount of laughs and good times in school that we have shared. To list all of my favourite memories would take all morning but I will never forget our first day, the trip to the Roman museum and the fantastic costumes you wore for World Book Day.

Today, for you home learning, I would like you to recap the year and think about your favourite memories. You can tell me all about them in any way you would like, such as through a drawing, a poem, a story or a letter. Any format you would like. This is one home learning task I would like you all to take part in regardless of your participation before, as it will be lovely to see what everyone’s favourite memories have been. **Please upload this to the new discussion page so we can all share the memories and pictures together!

It has genuinely been my privilege to teach you all this year, a task that would not have been possible without the help of Mrs. Boneham, Mrs. Finlay and Mrs Roberts. Together we have worked through the hardest of times due to the Covid-19 outbreak, but your smiles and sense of humour have kept us all going.

Some of you may be nervous about moving up to your next class but I promise you that your next teachers are lovely. They will all make sure that you have a fun and exciting year whilst making lots of progress. I’ll be keeping in touch with the staff to check on how you are all doing and to make sure you are all behaving well (Travis...).

Thank you for being an amazing class Starlings, everyone is always telling me that you never forget your first class and I can guarantee that that will be true for me.

Enjoy the next two weeks with your new teachers and then have the best summer holiday you can!

Stay safe Starlings! All the best,

Mr Dean

Swallows 3rd July 2020 - Home Learning Tasks

Date: 3rd Jul 2020 @ 8:32am

Well, well, well...

What can I say Swallows? It has been an absolute pleasure to have been your teacher for this last school year, but today is a very sad day for me....It is our last learning post together! As from next week, I would like you to show as much enthusiasm as you have shown this year and take yourselves over to your new teacher's school blog page. Check out what they have got in store for you and really push on, by challenging yoursleves to learn! Show them what you are made of and upload, upload, upload!

As a teacher in these times, it is really imprtant that you show how much you are capable of and I am so glad that you have taken our motto of 'Swallows Spread Their Wings...' to heart. You have all grow so much with your attitudes to learning and developed some amazing skills along the way. I can even say that some of you are (safetly) now making those brews at home for your adults! If anything, that is a huge achievement! Take time to be with family this weekend, reflect on what a 'topsy-turvy' year it has been, and celebrate your wonderful achievements!

Your last LBQ code is: kau

There are 3 tasks again, please make this your best effort ever by finishing them all!

I must say CAIO for now, it has been an experience of a lifetime and to all the parents and adults, you have helped me settle right in and I feel so very at home! It is something I will be eternally grateful for. Many, many thanks for your welcomes, high fives and even hugs! Your support of these wonderful children means everything to us!

See you all very soon, keep up with your new teachers blogs and enjoy a wonderful summer - I will be looking out for your smiling faces in Septemeber.

Mr P and Mrs Roberts :) 🌈🌈🌈

Doves - Home Learning - 3rd July

Date: 2nd Jul 2020 @ 9:53pm

Good morning Doves!

Today is an extremely sad day as it is our last day together as Doves Class. I have loved having the pleasure to teach you all (some of you for two years) and I have so many fond and treasured memories (hopefully you do too!). From the start of the year, all the way to the very strange end, you have shown amazing resilience, determination and positivity through it all - I couldn't be any prouder!

I have so many memories but my top 3 from this year (if i HAD to choose) would be:

- Our Music lesson - listening to you all sing 'Make you feel my love' - I still have the videos!

- The fun we had at the Titanic Museum - including the part where we walked around a building 2/3 and took a detour to find the building for our lunch.

- All of our conversations from our Happy Friday discussions (I will post you one last discussion today - make sure you join in!)

Hopefully, thinking about all of these made you smile :)

Look at this class picture I found of you all from September!

Robins Home Learning 3.7.20

Date: 2nd Jul 2020 @ 9:40pm

Good Morning Robins,

Today's post is a little bit different, it is the last day you are a member of Robins Class! As from Monday, you will be looking at the blogs for your new class and completing the transition activities with your new teacher.

Today is a sad day, when the school closed 14 weeks ago I was hoping that I would see you all again before Summer came. However, you are all safe and well and this is the most important thing. This is not the way I wanted to say goodbye, but what I really want to say is I am so proud of how you have handled this situation, your strength, determination, perseverance and positive attitude has really shown throughout this time and I am so proud to have had the opportunity to teach each and every one of you. It has been a strange time but I cannot tell you how happy it has made me to catch up with you and your families to see how you are getting on. Thank you for giving me a fantastic year, the hugs, high fives, pictures, cards and most importantly laughs.

I have been looking at the superheroes you completed on your transition day with me last year, I can't believe how much some of you have matured and grown since last July! I know that although you may be feeling a little bit nervous about your transition, I hope that you can find some excitement. I have no doubt that after your transition meeting, you will be looking forward to the year ahead. I can guarantee your new teachers are fantastic after having the pleasure of working with them. Have fun over the next couple of weeks!

Although I will not be there in September I will still be keeping in touch with the staff who will let me know how you are getting on, and I have no doubt that if you work as hard as you have this year you will succeed.

Below is a few photographs I have taken of us over the year, it was so hard to choose them but I'd say these ones are firm favourites.

So your home learning today is a little different, I would like you to recap the memories over the year and tell me a little about your favourite one. This could be done in any way you wish, through writing, drawing, poetry, art or anything else you can think of. I must admit I'm struggling to pick just one, The Gruffalo's Child, The man on the moon writing, writing mnemonics to help us remember the planets, wrap making and pretty much every single daily mile! Feel free to update the blog today and share your memories, you're all still superheroes to me.

Thank you for a wonderful year Robins!

Have a fantastic Summer and most importantly stay safe!

Miss Woodward

Hello Penguins!

Today is very sad for me because this is my final blog with you all in Nursery.
I just wanted to write a quick message to let you know how proud I am of every single one of you and how much I am going to miss you all in Penguins.
Do you remember when you first started your journey in school with us? You have grown so much and learned so many new things! I hope that you have enjoyed your time in Nursery as much as I have enjoyed being in class with you. You are all superstars and I know that you will all blow your new teachers' socks off when we return to school with how wonderful you are. I know it's not been easy for you to adjust to the new routines but you have been incredible the last few months and you should be very proud of yourselves.
I wish that we could say goodbye properly in school with lots of games and fun but instead, I am just going to say goodbye for now on this blog. Thank you for being amazing and please don't worry about anything! Your new teachers can't wait to meet you and they have already been putting stories and activities for you to enjoy on your new blog.
Have a brilliant summer and I can't wait to see you all again soon!

Here are two final challenges from me for you to enjoy:

Challenge 1:

Can you talk to a grown-up and tell them some of your favourite memories from your time in Nursery?
I'd love to hear what you enjoyed so feel free to blog them so I can have a look!

Challenge 2:

Owls Home Learning 03.07.20

Date: 2nd Jul 2020 @ 6:13pm

Good morning my little Owls!

Whilst we still have 2 weeks left of school, today is the last day you're a member of Owl Class! From Monday onwards, you will be looking at the blogs for your new class and completing transition activities with your new teacher.

Today is a sad day for me as this isn't how we were supposed to say goodbye to each other. We should have had so much fun and amazing learning over the past 14 weeks and enjoyed making each other laugh and giving out lots of hugs, high fives and fist bumps. However, we haven't seen each other in so long. It's been such a strange time but you've all been so wonderful and I can't tell you how impressed I am with how hard you've worked whilst being on lockdown at home. I know it's not been easy for you - you've missed your friends, being in school and all of the fun that we have, but you've been brilliant and I am so very proud of each and every one of you.

You're going to really enjoy your new classes and whilst I am sure you're nervous (teachers are too!), I'm sure you'll feel better after your Zoom transition meetings and getting to know your classmates and new teacher over the next couple of weeks.

I can't wait to see you all in September - whilst I won't be your teacher, I'll still be coming round to see how you're all getting on and I can't wait to catch up with you all and hear your lockdown stories!

Below is a photograph I took of us on our first day in September 2019. Can you spot yourself? I bet you look a lot different now!

Also, on the first day, we completed a 'My first day in Y2' activity where we measured your height and discussed your favourite colour and what you want to be when you're older. The plan was to do the same thing on your last day in Owls Class, but we obviously can't, so that's your home learning for today!

Find your picture and information below and create one for today - you'll need:

  • a photograph of you today
  • how old you are
  • how tall you are
  • what your favourite colour is
  • what you want to be when you're older.

Then you can blog your photo and information and compare how you're different now than you were in September 2019! Some of you weren't in school on the first day, but that doesn't mean you can't take part in today's activity!

I'd also love to hear what your favourite memory has been from your time in Owls Class.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how much you have all changed!

Have a wonderful summer everyone and I look forward to seeing you in September!

Hello my little Pufflings!

I am just writing our last blog for this year and it has made me feel so sad that it's already that time! I have had an amazing year with all of  you; from getting to know you, then watching you grow and helping you learn. I'm so proud of the progress that you have made and the resilience you have show in these difficult times. I have attached a poem that I read and thought of you and also a picture of my favourite memory from this year (it was very hard to choose!)

For the last two weeks of home learning, you will be completing transition activities that your new teacher will set for you. Please see your new September class blog for these. Show your teacher how incredible you are and make me proud.

 Today's Home learning

iXL English:  O.11, H.1, L.9 (Year 2)

iXL Maths: R.7, J.6, K.19 (Year 1 section)

Please also complete activities on Purple Mash, check the writing challenge, spellings (in discussions) and Read Theory.

Well done Penguins!

Penguin home learning 3.7.20

Date: 2nd Jul 2020 @ 3:57pm

Good morning my little penguins!

Whilst we still have 2 weeks left of school, today is the last day you're a member of Penguin Class! From Monday onwards, you will be looking at the blogs for your new class (Puffins or Robins) and completing transition activities with your new teacher.

I am really sad to be writing our last blog post instead of being all together in class to say goodbye. It definitely hasn't been the year I was expecting but I have loved being your teacher this year and you have all made me incredibly proud, even more so over these past few months. Where, you have shown resilience and determination to continue to learn which has really impressed me!

Although I won't be your teacher,  I am looking forward to seeing you all in September in your new classes, shining bright and making your new teachers smile just as much as you have made me smile this year.

You are all amazing!!

Todays home learning!

I thought we would do something a little different today for home learning! I want you to think about your year in Penguins.

  • What have you done?
  • What have you liked the best?
  • What has made you laugh, smile?
  • Who have you played with?

Then I want you to take one of those memories and draw me a picture about it. You can then decide to either write me some sentences describing your favourite time in reception or you can do me a little video. I've made a video talking about my memories for you all.

I will then put them all together on the blog for all your friends to see!

Let's see if we can get lots of posts for our last day of Penguins!

Have a great day Penguins!!

Starlings Home Learning - 02.7.20

Date: 2nd Jul 2020 @ 9:48am

Good morning children,

Great work yesterday children on The Oak National Academy. Lots of brilliant learning is being completed.

Today’s learning:

Today’s learning is using the Oak Academy for both English and Maths. Some of the maths videos only have a few questions to complete so you can use ixl to support any learning at home if you would like to. I have listed possible codes below. They are purely a suggestion, not expected.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/compare-and-order-unit-fractions

ixl activities linked to today’s tasks are Year 3 w19, w20, w21 and Year 4 z1, z2, z3, z4 and z5

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/news-report-spag-focus-inverted-commas

Other tasks

There will be new tasks set on the discussion blogs so look out for these. The writing will link to the Oak Academy English tasks which you completed last week so this should help you with your task.

Our Recommendation:

Our recommendation this week is for the National Geographic website. Here you will find lots of different brain busters, investigations, information about animals and also quizzes and video clips galore! Enjoy.

https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/

Have a fantastic day children!

**I apologise for the delay, the school website has been down in school since 8:35. I could not sign in to upload any work.

Swallows 2nd July 2020 - Home Learning

Date: 2nd Jul 2020 @ 8:14am

Good morning Swallows!!!

They are purely a suggestion, not expected.

ixl activities linked to today’s tasks are Year 3 w19, w20, w21 and Year 4 z1, z2, z3, z4 and z5

Enjoy.

Have a fantastic day children!
