Well done Viyan! This is for outstanding learning recently and it has been a long time coming. Like Jenson last week, just a shame that we weren’t in school to see your happy and proud face!I promise we will have a special celebration when we are back in. Lots of tea drank! You have been dedicated to your learning and it has been astonishing how much you have been contributing to our class total on IXL! Keep up that level of effort and your pilots wings will not be long away young man!

I know it will mean the world to all of you to receive this certificate at home. There have honestly been some unique feats on LBQ this week with some really tricky tasks with fractions. I can see how hard you are all working, but remember your time WILL come! Be thankful to your adults at home for the support they are giving you,  you will benefit greatly from this time spent with them, even though it is different.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend all!

Throwback Thursday - Guess Who

Date: 7th May 2020 @ 9:35am

Good Morning everyone!

We have something super exciting today that we would like you all to take part in!

It’s called – GUESS WHO!

Every Thursday, I will post a picture of a member of staff as a child, your job – simple! Guess who the little person grew up to be.

The member of staff can be anyone working in school: Office, Teaching Assistant, Teacher. It could even be a member of staff who is currently off at the minute! (so, make sure you switch your brains on).

Here’s the picture you’re guessing at today:

To have your guess (staff and children!), make sure you add a comment as to who you think this is

I will reveal who it is by the end of today (P.S. Its only me – Miss Fairhurst- who knows the answer).

Happy Guessing

Just a reminder how to blog a comment:

- Click on the title of the blog (Throwback Thursday - Guess Who).

- Scroll down and click Pupil Login

- Type in your Username and Password (These have been emailed out previously - they are used to access your own pupil blogs).

- Vote for who you think this is :)

Kingfishers Home Learning 7th May

Date: 7th May 2020 @ 8:45am

Good morning everyone, what a beautiful morning outside.

I've managed to upload the spellings to SeeSaw however the writing task keeps disappearing. I have emailed support about this so hopefully should be up for submission tomorrow.

Some excellent work again yesterday, here is a quick summary:

Maths LBQ = 22/27

Todays tasks

1) Read theory

2) Times tables rockstars

3) LBQ code - nut

English -

Non-standard and standard English

Non-standard English is language which vairies depending on accent/location. For example, here in Westhoughton we will have some examples of phrases/saying which would be different from other areas. This would be non-standard.

Maths - Solve two step problems involving multiplying and addition.

This will be the last lesson on multi-step problems this week.

https://www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/arith-review-multiply-divide/arith-review-multi-digit-mult/v/multiplying-2-digit-numbers

These lessons may be useful for any of you who might need a reminder on multiplying 2 digit numbers - we have done this a lot this year so hopefully you won't need too much time on this.

4) Written task -

Today would be a good day to write your final newspaper report, hopefully the submission link will be up later today.

Your report will need:

· A headline

· An introduction for the first paragraph (When it happened, what happened, where did it happen, what did people do, and why did it happen)

· Quotes and reactions from people (this will be your second paragraph)

· What will the country do next (this will be your final paragraph)

· Pictures

5) Afternoon topic web work - You can choose any topic from any any of the previous terms. Choose something that you are interested in and want to learn more about.

I hope you are all keeping active and making the most of the amazign weather.

Keep up the gard work,

Mr Horsley

What a lovely sunny day we had yesterday. I hope the weather stays nice for our parties tomorrow!

You have all done a great job with making your sweet treats. This one is a chocolate beanstalk! How creative.

I made some little chocolate cakes and I think I will have to go on an extra-long walk tomorrow after I've eaten them.

I am very impressed with your drawings of Daisy the cow too. Take a look at this one.

Here are today's challenges:

Challenge 1

Can you retell the story of Jack and the Jelly Beanstalk to someone at your house?
What is your favourite part of the story?
What does the beanstalk look like?

We need one more thing for our tea party tomorrow. Can you make some sandwiches with your favourite filling?
Can you help your grown-up and tell them how to make a sandwich?
