It's Wednesday already!

This week is going by so fast. Who is looking forward to their VE day tea party on Friday?

You have done such a great job on your party invitations and bunting.

You've also created some fantastic beanstalks and giants like the ones in our story!

Harrison has even given this lovely message to Mrs Mort.

Keep up this amazing work, Penguins. I am very proud of you all!

Here are today's challenges:

Challenge 1

Can you draw a picture of Daisy the cow? This could be done on Purple Mash or on paper.
What colours will you use?
Can you name some of the body parts?

Challenge 2

To get ready for our party, can you make a special cake or a favourite sweet treat?
I will make one too and post a picture later. I'd love to see yours so don't forget to blog.

Try not to eat it yet, it's for our special party!

Please also complete activities on Purple Mash, IXL, PhonicsPlay, or Mini Mash.

As always, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Another day done and another day of great learning!  I have loved reading your menus today.  They have made me very hungry!!

You have done brilliantly with your halving too, I have put some examples below.  I love how imaginative you and your grownups have been with the objects you have been using to halve.

Well done Penguins.

Good morning penguins!

You all worked really hard yesterday and I was really pleased to see how many of you remembered how to halve and your invitations where fab!  Let’s have another great day!

Maths

Can you recap on halving again today?  Choose a number and halve it using drawings. Watch the video again to remind you.

Remember to use the correct language each time to describe what you have done.

“half of 4 equals 2”

Challenge: If you can confidently halve numbers using drawings can you answer some of these halving work problems?

Literacy

So today we need to write our menu, what food are we going to have at our tea party?

Watch the video and then write your menu, I can’t wait to see them!

Challenge:  Can you add adjectives to describe the food on your menu?

We are going to play rocket rescue today.  Choose the sounds you need to work on when you play this game.  Remember to sound out each word carefully using your sound fingers!

Daily reminders:

  • Oxford owl reading
  • Purple Mash
  • Spellings

Don’t forget to upload your pictures on the blog so I can see what you have been doing.

Have a great day!

Penguins 4th May Home Learning

Date: 4th May 2020 @ 7:33am

Good morning penguins!

I hope you have all had a really good weekend and have been enjoying the sun again.  We have had a quiet one this weekend we have done lots of baking though!

Maths

We are going to recap on halving this week. Remember halving is when you share something into 2 equal groups, those groups have to have the same number.

Watch the video using objects and then have a go with numbers:

2, 4, 6, 8, 10

If you can confidently use the objects to halve then have a go at halving with drawings using the same numbers.

Challenge: have a go at halving numbers up to 20?

Literacy

This week we are celebrating VE day so I thought we would plan and have a little tea party. To plan a party we need to write invitations, a menu and make some food.  Today we are going to write some invitations.

Watch the video and then write an invitation to invite someone from your house to your party.

Challenge:  Can you add more detail and information to your invitation?

Flash card time trial today.  How many sounds can you read?  How quickly did you read the sounds?  Make a note of the sounds that you don’t know and see if you can practise them this week.  If you know them all move onto phase 4 sounds.

I have added new spellings for you on the discussion part of your blogs.

Daily reminders:

  • Oxford owl reading
  • Purple Mash

Don’t forget to upload your pictures on the blog so I can see what you have been doing.

Have a great day!

Good morning my lovely Penguins,

It’s Monday again! I hope you had a great weekend. I have been very busy doing a bit of gardening and cleaning my car.

You are doing some great work and I am really enjoying looking at all the blogs and pictures on PurpleMash. Keep it up, Penguins!

I have posted another video of you to enjoy. This story is a little bit different from the one we read last week… I wonder what happens.

It’s also VE day on Friday which is a special day that celebrates the victory in Europe at the end of WWll. It would be special if we could all get ready for an afternoon tea party on Friday by completing the daily challenges!

I am going to post two challenges for you every day this week about the story of the week and VE day and I am really looking forward to seeing your completed challenges on the school blog.

Challenge one
To begin this week, can you tell me what your favourite jelly bean flavour would be?

I think mine would be chocolate, YUM!

Challenge two

Could you create some special VE Day tea party invitations?
Can you write your own name?
Who is your party invitation for?

Please also complete activities on Purple Mash, Mini Mash, IXL or PhonicsPlay

Have a great day,

Miss Altham

VE Celebrations – WB 4.5.20

Dear Parents,

Next week marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day and despite not being in school, we would still like to be able to celebrate this with the children.

It would be brilliant if at home you could have a tea party or a picnic on Friday as a special celebration on this day. Some streets are planning a ‘Stay at home street party’.

At home, it would be great if your child could make a VE Day t shirt (decorate a plain t shirt using felt tips of fabric paint) which they can wear to their own VE Day tea party/picnic.

Here are some ideas for your child to complete at home if they would like to. If you do complete any of these activities, we would love you to share them with us on the blog.

Challenge:  Can you answer this?  It is really tricky! Your counting in 10’s might help you!

Literacy

All week you have been working really hard on your spellings.  Ask your grown ups to test you and see how many you can read and write today. The spellings are on the discussion blog but to remind you they are;

Once you have done that can you choose 2 of those words and write 2 sentences.  Can you add an adjective to make your sentence even more exciting?
