Happy Friday smiley

We've made it to the end of another week, well done! Are you still going out to clap for carers on a Thursday night? My street was the loudest it had been last night, it's really to feel part of the curriculum.

Chester Zoo live

Today I am attaching the link to watch Chester Zoo live - have any of you seen it, it is on most Friday's and is a great watch - the link will take you to the page that gives you the timetable (it is an all day event) to actually see the video's you can ask your grown-up to help you look on either youtube or Facebook for Chester Zoo live. The videos are available after as well, so if you catch one you can watch it later. I personally cannot wait for the Cheetah talk.

Today's home learning is as follows:

Your IXL passwords have expired, we have set up new usernames and passwords for you like we did last time, most of the usernames are your first name and last name followed by 507 for example, misswoodward507 however if this does not work you might have 462 at the end of your name e.g misswoodward462. Your password is the same.

Good morning penguins!

I can’t believe its Friday again, we have had another amazing week with our learning and I have loved reading some of the stories you have written, you are really trying hard with your writing.

You all seemed to be really enjoy the measuring yesterday!  I love this video I got sent, great concentration and language! Well done!

I love some of the repeating pattern names you have been making on Purple Mash!

Maths

We are going to look at measuring again today.  Using your steps can you count how long each room is.  Start at one end and walk to the other keeping your feet close to each other?

Can you write the name of each room and how many feet long it was?

Which is the biggest room?  Which is the smallest?  How do you know?

Literacy

Ask your grownups to quiz you on your spellings this week.

Can you choose at least 2 of your spellings and put them into sentences using an adjective?

Your choice Friday. Can you choose a game to play that helps you practise the sounds you are not about?

Daily reminders:

  • Oxford owl reading
  • Purple Mash

Don’t forget to upload your pictures on the blog so I can see what you have been doing.

Good morning penguins!

There was some great learning again yesterday, I am so impressed with how much your writing has progressed. Wyatt produced an amazing piece of writing this week and he tried really hard with his letters.  Madeline, Erin and Archie are also working super hard on their writing, well done!

One penguin posted a really lovely idea I wanted to share with you: a hope and dreams jar. She thought about all the things she wants to do and places she wants to visit when lockdown is over, I think I am going to create one of these.  Maybe you could too?

Maths

We are going to leave numbers for this week now and look at measures today.  Can you find at least 4 containers and fill them up with different amounts of water?

Now can you put them in order?  Which one is full, which one has the least in? Try and use the language of full, half full, empty to describe what you have done.

Challenge: Can you find anything else in your house or garden to put into order?  Can you use the correct language to describe the objects?

Literacy

Have a read or watch of The Three Billy Goats Gruff story again. We are going to write about the solution today (and my video is working today!) Can you write at least 2 sentences about the solution in the story?

Challenge:  Can you use the story language to end your story?  If you put all your sentences together from this week and draw some pictures to go with it, you have written your own story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff!

Post them on the blog so I can see them!

Let’s remind ourselves of our tricky words.  Can you play tricky word flash cards?  How many can you read?  Once you’ve done this choose one other game to play.

Wow, Thursday already!

I haven’t quite got round to my baking but I did make chicken fajitas last night, can you remember which country this food comes from? I am enjoying creating more recipes in the kitchen, so far I have made lasagnas – meat and vegetarian, fish cakes and some different pasta sauces. However, I do not like the cleaning up that comes with it!

Today's home learning is as follows:

Woodpeckers - Star Day 13.5.20

Date: 13th May 2020 @ 4:33pm

Hi Woodpeckers,

I hope that you have all had a good day today and that you have managed to get some fresh air. I’ve been for a lovely walk.

LBQ Shout Outs

Some great work going on today on LBQ and I am seeing lots of you completing the tasks and working really hard. If you completed all 3 tasks today, please give yourself 10 house points. I am writing down all these house points so that I don’t forget!

Special shout outs to Morgan, Clayton, Oliver B-S, Amber, Lyndon, Archie, Aoife, Brandon and Luca ...great work and lots of effort and resilience to get them completed.

More shout outs to Kate, Lucy, Ellie, Jasmine, Oliver B, Rebecca, Henry, Millie, Emelia, Heidi, Kaitlyn and Abigail for constant, daily effort and hard work.

I’ve noticed on LBQ that quite a few children who were signing on and completing LBQ tasks a couple of weeks ago, are no longer completing them everyday or are logging on and only completing 2 or 3 questions. The LBQ tasks are the main activities to keep our learning going so please can we all make sure that we are completing them everyday.

Here are some shares …

Look at this fantastic idea from Oliver. We are all missing things right now. Write them on a piece of paper and place them in a jar. Once we have more freedom to do the things we enjoy again, pick them out one at a time and enjoy what is on the paper.

Here is Jasmine’s time capsule container which she has decorated ready to use.

Here is another time capsule ready to go:

Abigail, this is a fantastic newspaper. I love the handwriting too!

And another super newspaper Henry. I love the use of colour.

And well done to Kate. Another fantastic article.

Well done Woodpeckers. I am super proud. Keep up the good work.

Mrs Latham.
